Role & responsibilities

• Supervise the daily operations of the pharmacy department, ensuring all tasks are performed efficiently and accurately.
• Ensure proper storage, handling, and distribution of pharmaceuticals in compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
• Oversee the preparation and dispensing of medications, including the verification of prescriptions and patient details.
• Manage the pharmacy inventory, ensuring an adequate stock of medications and other pharmaceutical supplies.
• Monitor the expiration dates of medications and ensure proper disposal of expired drugs.
• Supervise and manage pharmacy staff, including pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and assistants.
• Ensure the safe administration of medications, including reviewing prescriptions for errors, drug interactions, and dosage discrepancies.
• Educate patients and healthcare staff about proper medication use, including dosage, side effects, and potential interactions.
• Develop and implement protocols for medication safety and quality assurance.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records for all pharmaceutical transactions, including prescriptions, purchases, and stock levels.
• Assist in managing the pharmacy budget, controlling expenses, and ensuring efficient resource utilization.
• Stay updated with the latest developments in pharmaceuticals and healthcare.
• Ensure the pharmacy is stocked with emergency medications and supplies for situations like natural disasters or pandemics.
• Develop emergency protocols for the pharmacy department in case of unforeseen events.

Desired Candidate Profile:

• Bachelors or Masters Degree in Pharmacy (B.Pharm or M.Pharm) from an accredited institution.
• Required to be registered with the relevant pharmacy council or regulatory body in the region.
• Minimum 8-10 years of experience as a licensed pharmacist, with at least 2-3 years of supervisory or managerial experience in a hospital or healthcare setting.
• Experience in overseeing pharmacy operations, including inventory management, medication dispensing, procurement, and drug therapy management.
• Ensuring accuracy in dispensing medications, maintaining records, and reviewing prescriptions.
• Ability to foster a team-oriented environment and work seamlessly with various departments, including medical, nursing, and administrative teams.
