We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic Educational Counsellor to guide students through their academic, career, and personal development. The Educational Counsellor will work closely with students to assess their strengths, interests, and goals, providing advice on educational pathways, career options, and personal challenges. This role requires strong communication skills, a passion for student success, and the ability to help students navigate both academic and personal obstacles.
Key Responsibilities:
Student Assessment and Guidance:
Meet with students individually to assess their academic performance, strengths, interests, and career aspirations.
Provide guidance on educational options, such as course selections, college applications, and scholarship opportunities.
Help students develop personalized academic and career plans that align with their goals.
Career and Educational Planning:
Offer career counselling to help students explore potential career paths, majors, and professional opportunities.
Assist students in understanding college and university admission processes, and provide guidance on standardized tests (SAT, ACT, GRE, etc.).
Help students develop resumes, write personal statements, and prepare for interviews.
Personal Development and Support:
Offer emotional and psychological support to students experiencing stress, anxiety, or other personal challenges affecting their academic performance.
Teach and promote time management, study skills, and coping strategies to improve students academic success.
Provide resources and referrals for additional mental health or social services when needed.
Workshops and Group Sessions:
Organize and conduct workshops on topics such as career exploration, college readiness, scholarship opportunities, and study habits.
Facilitate group sessions that address common student challenges like exam stress, goal setting, and motivation.
Collaboration with Educators and Parents:
Work closely with teachers, school staff, and parents to develop strategies for student support and success.
Keep parents informed of student progress and any significant concerns regarding academic or personal development.
Collaborate with school administration to ensure students needs are met and that the school environment promotes well-being.
Record Keeping and Reporting:
Maintain confidential student records and documentation of counselling sessions.
Track student progress and outcomes, adjusting educational or career plans as necessary.
Prepare reports on student counseling outcomes and success stories to help enhance school programs.
Adherence to Policies:
Stay informed about the latest educational trends, career options, and scholarship opportunities.
Ensure compliance with ethical and legal standards in educational counselling and student privacy.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelors degree in psychology, education, counselling, or a related field.
Masters degree in educational counselling or school psychology preferred.
Relevant certifications or licenses to practice as an educational counsellor (as required by local regulations).
