Job Description: Vehicle Assembly/Repair/Fitment/BIW Repair Engineer - Electric Vehicles (EV)

Job Summary:

The Vehicle Assembly/Repair/Fitment/BIW (Body-in-White) Repair Engineer is responsible for overseeing the assembly, repair, and fitment processes of electric vehicles (EVs), with a specific focus on Body-in-White (BIW) repair. This role involves ensuring that all vehicle assembly and repair activities meet quality standards, improving assembly processes, and coordinating with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and implement improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Vehicle Assembly:

• Supervise and coordinate the vehicle assembly processes to ensure they meet production schedules and quality standards.
• Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for assembly operations.
• Monitor assembly line performance and implement improvements to enhance efficiency and productivity.

2. BIW Repair and Maintenance:

• Oversee the repair and maintenance of BIW structures to ensure structural integrity and compliance with safety standards.
• Diagnose and repair BIW issues, including weld defects, panel misalignments, and structural damages.
• Implement repair techniques and technologies to improve the quality and durability of BIW structures.

3. Fitment and Installation:

• Manage the fitment and installation of vehicle components, ensuring proper alignment and functionality.
• Conduct inspections and tests to verify the fitment of components and systems.
• Address fitment issues promptly and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

4. Quality Assurance:

• Ensure all assembly and repair activities comply with quality standards and specifications.
• Conduct regular quality inspections and audits to identify and resolve issues.
• Collaborate with the quality assurance team to develop and implement quality control measures.

5. Process Improvement:

• Identify opportunities for process improvements in assembly, repair, and fitment operations.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, reduce waste, and improve product quality.
• Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices in vehicle assembly and BIW repair.

6. Documentation and Reporting:

• Maintain accurate records of assembly and repair activities, including work orders, inspection reports, and maintenance logs.
• Prepare and present reports on assembly line performance, repair activities, and improvement initiatives.
• Ensure all documentation complies with internal policies and regulatory requirements.

7. Team Collaboration and Training:

• Work closely with cross-functional teams, including design, manufacturing, and quality assurance, to resolve issues and implement improvements.
• Provide training and guidance to assembly and repair technicians to enhance their skills and knowledge.
• Foster a culture of teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement within the assembly and repair teams.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in vehicle assembly, repair, and fitment, preferably in the automotive or EV industry.
• Strong knowledge of BIW structures, repair techniques, and welding processes.
• Experience with quality assurance and process improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification in relevant repair techniques or quality standards (e.g., AWS, ISO 9001).
• Experience with electric vehicle systems and components.
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements for electric vehicles.
• Knowledge of CAD software and tools for designing and evaluating assembly processes.

Working Conditions:

• This position requires working in a manufacturing environment, with exposure to machinery and equipment.
• Occasional travel may be required to coordinate with suppliers or external partners.

Salary:- 10 lakh to 12 Lakh Per year
