SENIOR MANAGER, SOFTWARE ENGINEERING

Position Summary... Drives the execution of multiple business plans and projects by identifying customer and operational needs; developing and communicating business plans and priorities; removing barriers and obstacles that impact performance; providing resources; identifying performance standards; measuring progress and adjusting performance accordingly; developing contingency plans; and demonstrating adaptability and supporting continuous learning. Promotes and supports company policies, procedures, mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by training and providing direction to others in their use and application; ensuring compliance with them; and utilizing and supporting the Open Door Policy. Ensures business needs are being met by evaluating the ongoing effectiveness of current plans, programs, and initiatives; consulting with business partners, managers, co-workers, or other key stakeholders; soliciting, evaluating, and applying suggestions for improving efficiency and cost-effectiveness; and participating in and supporting community outreach events.

Job Description Summary:

We are looking for Strong Senior Manager who can drive design, architecture & delivery of our next generation warehouse management platform keeping scalability, robustness and security aspects in focus. The platforms you build will be used by the warehouses across multiple countries with each of them being a multi billion dollar business for Walmart. You will be challenged with unparalleled complex business problems that spans across multiple countries and also catering to various workflows and diverse nature of the operations within a warehouse across countries

About Team and Position Summary:

International Technology team enables our warehouses, stores and eCommerce operations across the world. The platforms that we build are used in most of the markets where Walmart has its presence (outside US). Omni Supply chain group of International Technology focuses on building Supply chain solutions for customers, operators and sellers.

Unified Fulfilment team under Omni Supply chain group is responsible for building next gen, state of art technology, cloud native systems for Warehouse management for entire Walmart International that is capable of distributing inventory and order fulfilment through intelligent transaction processing, optimized storage and selected strategies.

What youll do:

Lead a team of Top Notch Engineers to successfully build and deploy cutting edge platforms for Omni Supply Chain.

Focus on goal completion and support teams to overcome the challenges in implementation

Work with senior leadership to chart out the future roadmap of the products

Improve, optimize and identify opportunities for efficient software development processes

Hire, Develop and Retain a strong team of software engineers.

Exhibit strong leadership and communication skills to collaborate with product, engineering and management teams across different geographic locations

Promote and support company policies, procedures, mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity.

Interact with Walmart engineering teams across geographies to leverage expertise and contribute to the tech community

You will come up with quality, best practices, other Non-functional standards, guide the teams to adhere to the standards.

What youll bring:

Bachelors/Master s degree in Computer Science, engineering, or related field.

11 years in 18 years of relevant experience in building highly resilient, highly scalable systems

• Supply chain expertise with previous working experience in Supply chain area is desirable
• Must be able and willing to think and act strategically and tactically

Strong oral and written communication skills are crucial

3+ years of leadership/management experience with a team of 10+ engineers.

A good understanding of CS Fundamentals, Microservices, Data Structures, Algorithms & Problem Solving

Hands on experience with Java (Must have) and experience of working in cloud based solutions is desirable

Should be hands on writing/reviewing design & code

Understand the product and project management space with Agile methodologies.

CI/CD development environments/tools: Git, Maven, Jenkins.

Demonstrated end-to-end ownership for development and design of least one cloud-based project - Experience in building microservices, data pipelines, extensible platforms is desirable.

Strong desire to drive change, and ability to adapt to change quickly. Proficient in new and emerging technologies.

Ability to balance the long-term "big picture" and short-term implications of design decisions.

Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills - including negotiation, facilitation, and consensus building skills; ability to influence and persuade, without direct control.

Mentoring/coaching Senior staff engineers and other Engineers.

Focus on reusability, frameworks, patterns and configurations tools for faster development.
