Mold Design Engineer

Job Summary:

We are looking for a talented and detail-oriented Plastic Injection Mould Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and managing plastic injection mould projects from the initial design phase through trials and customer approvals. This role involves maintaining effective communication with customers, providing timely updates, and collaborating with design teams to modify components for optimal moulding feasibility. Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and checking fixture designs is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and Development:
  
• Develop and design plastic injection moulds using advanced CAD software.
• Ensure mould designs align with customer requirements and adhere to industry standards.

• Project Management:
  
• Oversee the complete project lifecycle from design inception to final customer approval.
• Manage project timelines, resources, and budgets to meet critical milestones.

• Customer Communication:
  
• Serve as the primary contact for customers during the project, ensuring clear and consistent communication.
• Provide regular status updates on project progression, trials, and necessary modifications.

• Trials and Approvals:
  
• Lead mould trial runs, analyze the results, and make adjustments as necessary for quality assurance.
• Facilitate customer evaluations and secure approvals for prototypes and final mould designs.

• Design Collaboration:
  
• Collaborate with design teams to modify existing parts, ensuring they are feasible for moulding and production.
• Utilize GD&T principles to create accurate specifications and ensure proper fit and function.

• Checking Fixture Design:
  
• Design and evaluate checking fixtures to ensure quality and compliance with specifications.
• Work closely with the quality assurance team to develop effective testing methodologies.

• Technical Support:
  
• Provide ongoing technical support to production teams throughout the moulding process.
• Address and resolve issues arising during manufacturing and mould operation.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Plastics Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience in designing plastic injection moulds (5-8 years preferred).
• Strong knowledge of GD&T and experience with checking fixture designs.
• Proficient in CAD software (e.g., NX, Creo, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc).
• Excellent project management skills with a track record of meeting deadlines.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective customer and team interactions.
• Detail-oriented with solid problem-solving capabilities.
