- Role Overview : We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Manager of Revenue Recognition to lead the implementation of ASC 606 and ensure accurate financial reporting in our growing company.
- This role involves managing a team, collaborating with key stakeholders (legal, sales, and PMO), interpreting contracts, ensuring compliance with U.
- GAAP, and driving improvements to revenue recognition processes and systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Revenue Recognition Leadership: Oversee and apply ASC 606 revenue recognition standards to ensure accurate recognition of SaaS and on-premise contract revenue.
- Guide the team in interpreting complex transactions and providing accurate revenue treatment recommendations.
- Financial Reporting and Compliance: Lead the preparation and review of financial statements, ensuring adherence to U.
- GAAP and relevant regulatory standards.
- Provide expert advice on complex revenue recognition scenarios and facilitate the timely and accurate reporting of financial results.
- Contract Review and Analysis: Partner with legal, sales, and PMO teams to interpret and review customer contracts.
- Ensure proper documentation and application of revenue recognition policies to ensure compliance with ASC 606.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with Project Managers and cross-functional teams to understand project deliverables, timelines, and milestones, ensuring accurate and timely revenue recognition for all contracts.
- Audit Support and Coordination: Manage internal and external audit activities, providing necessary documentation and supporting audit teams with revenue-related inquiries.
- Process Improvement and Optimization: Continuously evaluate and improve revenue recognition processes, internal controls, and reporting systems.
- Identify opportunities to streamline operations, improve accuracy, and automate revenue processes where possible.
- System Utilization & Optimization: Oversee and manage the use of Netsuite or other ERP systems for revenue recognition and financial reporting.
- Ensure proper system configuration and work with IT to implement any necessary system enhancements to support revenue processes.
- Team Management and Development: Lead and manage a team of revenue recognition analysts and accountants.
- Provide mentorship, coaching, and performance feedback to team members.
- Encourage continuous professional development and ensure the team is up-to-date with industry standards and best practices.
- Stakeholder Communication & Reporting: Regularly communicate with senior leadership on the status of revenue recognition activities, audit findings, and process improvements.
- Prepare reports and presentations that explain complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
- Managerial Oversight: Set performance goals for the team, monitor progress, and ensure high standards of accuracy, efficiency, and compliance in all revenue recognition activities.
- Foster a collaborative team environment that emphasizes accountability, learning, and growth.
Required Experience:
- 12+ years of experience in revenue recognition, financial reporting, or similar roles, ideally within SaaS or fintech industries.
- Deep understanding and hands-on experience with ASC 606 revenue recognition standards.
- Proven experience in interpreting complex contracts and collaborating across multiple departments (legal, sales, PMO).
- Strong background in financial reporting and the preparation of financial statements in compliance with US GAAP.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel for financial data analysis, reporting, and forecasting.
- Experience managing a team, with the ability to provide mentorship, feedback, and development opportunities.
- Experience managing internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation, and responding to audit inquiries.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
Preferred Skills:
- Expertise with Netsuite or similar ERP systems, with an ability to optimize systems for revenue recognition.
- Previous experience in a SaaS or fintech environment, with a strong understanding of subscription-based business models.
