Senior Engineer Consultant-UI/UX

About this role

We are seeking a Senior Engineering Consultant to join our Verizon Value Design System team. This role will be responsible for crafting a design system that powers multiple brands, multiple channel experiences in the Verizon Value portfolio.

The Senior Engineering Consultant will code and create the visual front-end elements of the design system component library, documentation, and usage guidelines within the Verizon Value Design System. What youll be doing

• Creating patterns for the Verizon Value Design System to create a consistent user experience
• Thoroughly explore, refine and document the development solutions
• Actively explore user context, and engage in target user activities when possible
• Participating in insight-gathering activities (informal or formal, primary or secondary) and create solutions that leverage user insights
• Actively research competitive products, industry trends, and topics, and recommend activities, solutions, and methods to guide team members and stakeholders
• Staying updated on Verizon's business, strategy, and organizational structure
• Effectively design solutions within Verizon's business context and revenue model
• Maintaining a working knowledge of UI standards for common platforms (iOS, Android, Web).
• Working within Verizon Values front-end and back-end technology constraints and capabilities.
• Giving and receiving constructive feedback.
• Communicating the current project plan, goals, and expected outcomes.
• Articulating user, business, and/or technical reasoning for detailed design decisions in critiques or presentations.
• Mentoring peers and new hires by sharing experiences and processes to enable growth.
• Identifying project needs and engage stakeholders in conversation to fully understand needs.
• Presenting work and engaging in constructive dialogue with stakeholders to understand the context of tasks and ensure strong design rationale.
• Contributing to recommendations for shaping appropriate user insight-gathering activities (informal or formal, primary or secondary).
• Playing a role in evolving the design system by proposing updates and participating in feedback opportunities
• Exploring, refining, and documenting engineering solutions while adhering to design system guidelines

What were looking for

Youll need to have:

• Bachelors degree or four or more years of work experience.
• Four or more years of relevant work experience.
• Experience with Agile software delivery environments.
• Experience with common design software (Figma, Adobe, etc.).
• Experience with UI Architecture, Responsive design, SPA, and/or Design Patterns.
• Experience front-end technologies of React JS and TypeScript.
• Experience writing code and maintainable software.
• Experience with web performance, web accessibility, release cycle management, CI/CD pipeline, and/or SDLC Process.

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science.
• Portfolio of professional work.
• Experience with Agile software delivery environments.
• Contributed to multiple design programs or shipped products with a large user base.
• Contributed to overall product success.
• Experience with Fortune 500 organizational environments.
• Experience with Redux, React Native, JavaScript (ES5, ES6), Object Oriented JavaScript, Webpack, Rollup, Ajax, SCSS, Styled Component, HTML5, and/or CSS3.
• Experience Micro Frontend, Next JS.
• Hands-on experience in writing Unit Tests using Jest.
