Assistant Manager - Solution Design

Role & responsibilities

Position description:

1. Solution Design:

• Develop customized warehouse solutions for clients, focusing on optimizing space, resources, and operational efficiency.
• Design layouts, workflows, and material handling systems to maximize warehouse performance.
• Create scalable logistics models that accommodate growth and changing business needs.

2. Project Management:

• Assist in managing warehouse implementation projects, including timelines, budgets, and resources.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth execution of logistics solutions.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.

3. Client Interaction:

• Work closely with clients to understand their warehousing and logistics requirements.
• Provide expert advice on logistics optimization, cost reductions, and performance improvements.

4. Data Analysis and Reporting:

• Analyze data on warehouse operations, transportation, and logistics to identify inefficiencies.
• Create detailed reports and presentations on proposed solutions and their anticipated benefits.

5. Continuous Improvement:

• Continuously improve existing warehouse operations by identifying areas for optimization.
• Implement best practices in logistics and supply chain management.

6. Technology Integration:

• Stay updated with the latest warehouse management technologies and integrate them into solutions.
• Implement warehouse management systems (WMS) and other related software.

Competency/ Skills

Key Skills Required:

1. Technical Skills:

• Strong understanding of warehouse operations and layout design.
• Proficiency in logistics and supply chain management.
• Knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS), enterprise resource planning (ERP), and other logistics software.
• Experience with AutoCAD or similar software for layout and design.
• Data analysis skills, including proficiency in MS Excel, or other analytical tools.

2. Project Management:

• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Experience with project management methodologies like Agile or Lean Six Sigma is a plus.
• 3. Problem-Solving:
• Analytical thinking with the ability to identify problems and propose effective solutions.
• Capability to optimize warehouse processes and logistics operations.

4. Communication and Collaboration:

• Excellent communication skills for interacting with clients and cross-functional teams.
• Ability to present ideas and solutions clearly through reports and presentations.
• Strong negotiation skills to manage relationships with vendors and suppliers.

5. Leadership and Teamwork:

• Ability to lead and collaborate with teams, ensuring alignment and smooth execution of projects.
• Support senior management in strategic decision-making and client management.

Additional Responsibilities:

Experience:

• Experience: 1 - 3 years of relevant experience in solution design, logistics, supply chain management, or warehouse operations is typically required.
• Industry-Specific Experience: Previous experience in contract logistics or working in a third-party logistics (3PL) environment can be advantageous.
• This role typically suits someone with a strong technical background in logistics and supply chain operations, combined with hands-on experience in warehouse solution design.

Qualification & Experience

• Bachelors Degree: A degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field.
• Preferred: A masters degree (MBA or equivalent) can be an added advantage, especially in Logistics or Supply Chain Management.

Certifications:

• Certification in Supply Chain Management, Lean Six Sigma, or Project Management (e.g., PMP) is beneficial.
• o Knowledge of lean management and continuous improvement methodologies can also be a plus
