Process Design Engineer ( Water Industry)

Key Responsibility:

1) Prepare Correct and Optimum design

• Study tender documents and prepare a list of scope, specifications and queries with reference to their tender clauses and page numbers as per the required format (in SOP).
• Identify reference standards specified in the tender.
• Prepare the Technical bid document.
• Identify the critical / complicated items/units and identify the same in scope sheet.
• Identify any design risks involved and prepare the risk register.
• Review the complete design with the E&T & the discipline heads.

2) Provide correct BOQ at optimum cost

• Arrive at the BOQ as per the tender specification, design documents.
• Recheck the completeness of the BOQ as per the design / tender requirements.
• Review the BOQ with the respective discipline heads.
• Prepare enquiries to sub-contractors / vendors and finalize the best offer.
• Cross check with the sub-contractors / vendors offer with reference to earlier purchase orders/IFS/offers or by rate analysis (civil) and arrive at the best price.
• Prepare the correct interface schedule and co-ordinate with the other discipline leads.
• Co-ordinate with Sales team for identifying the scope split and JV partners scope understanding.

3) Support sales team for the post bid clarifications

• Compile the Client / consultant queries and prepare comprehensive replies with proper justifications.
• Communicate with other discipline leads for any variations in scope / values due to post bid queries and update the costing sheet accordingly.
• Discuss the impact of post bid queries with Engineering Head and convey to sales team.
• Update the documents as per the pre-bid queries.

4) Post order activities and Engineering work

• Ensure complete handover of relevant documents to execution team.
• Review & finalize complete BOQ & cost before ERP loading.
• Prepare the BEP in line with the tender specification / proposal submitted and well optimized. (Documents to be prepared: Process-Entire BEP, equipment data sheets; Civil-Layout & HFD, Piping-Layout, P&ID & HFD, E&I-Layout, P&ID & Control Philosophy).
• Support I&C for making the C&E chart, Block logic diagram and valve timing charts.
• Get regular feedback on the status of the project (Engineering & Construction).
• Support ensuring BOQ control in the BEP stage, including review of variance.
• Prepare the Master BOQ for the Project (Process & Mechanical Equipment list).

5) Support Procurement activities for awarded projects

• Provide technical specifications and cost basis for critical items.
• Identify & evaluate new vendors / contractors.
• Prepare the TBA and support project / engineering during vendor negotiations.
• Sign off the variance sheet.

6) Create a cost data base and Process Engineering templates

• Collect the as built mark up on the process related document and update all of them.
• Make a master BOQ of the Mechanical and Process items.
• Discuss with Engineering head and develop the best engineering practices and templates for the projects.

Excellent written & spoken communications is must.
