KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Develop and manage a logistics plan for the business unit, including road, rail and coastal shipping transportation, to develop least cost supply chain strategies, short and medium term. 2. Review sources of supply and service provider contractual terms in order to develop alternatives if required. 3. Develop the plan to ensure least cost path for material management. 4. Utilize freight and product storage contracts, key customer and supplier records of performance and sales/supply information. 5. Receives, stores, prepares, and ships goods, and may also sort and label them. 6. Proactively manage the delivery/receivable schedule to meet sales and purchase contractual terms. 7. Proactively manage product deficiencies, including reordering, rejection, breakdowns, contamination, delays etc. 8. Manage warehouse inventory and keep records of the inventory. Monitor and manage budgets. 9. Select carriers for transportation and negotiate rates and contracts with carriers. 10. Respond to and resolve complaints and problems. Keep up-to-date on shipping carriers, routes and rates and any changes to them. 11. Set guidelines to ensure that goods, materials or services purchased are of the quality specified. 12. Undertake major contract negotiations within the approved pricing policy and establish service programs. 13. Utilize measurement processes to schedule service. 14. Address issues if economies are not exercised to achieve schedules to meet delivery requirements. 15. Proactively work with the logistics team for agreed timing of services.
