Position Overview:
The SMT Equipment Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for maintaining and
troubleshooting all Surface Mount Technology (SMT) equipment and ensuring
optimal performance. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of SMT
machinery, preventive maintenance processes, and troubleshooting techniques. The
position requires a hands-on approach to resolving equipment issues, minimizing
downtime, and implementing improvements to boost machine performance and
reliability.
Key Responsibilities:

SMT Equipment Maintenance: Perform regular maintenance, calibration,
and repairs on SMT equipment such as pick and place machines, solder paste
printers, reflow ovens, and AOI (Automated Optical Inspection) machines to
ensure smooth operations.
Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve issues related to SMT equipment,
including mechanical, electrical, and software-related problems, to minimize
production downtime.

Preventive Maintenance: Implement and manage a preventive maintenance
schedule to reduce machine downtime and extend the lifespan of equipment.
Process Improvement: Suggest and implement modifications or upgrades to
SMT machines and processes to enhance performance, reliability, and
production efficiency.

Spare Parts Management: Ensure that spare parts and materials required for
equipment maintenance are stocked and readily available.

Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities,
including troubleshooting reports, preventive maintenance logs, and machine
performance data.
Collaboration: Work closely with production, engineering, and quality control
teams to ensure that equipment is aligned with production schedules and
quality standards.

Training: Provide training and technical guidance to operators and junior
engineers on proper machine operation and routine maintenance practices.
Continuous Monitoring: Regularly monitor the performance of SMT
equipment, conduct inspections, and initiate corrective actions as necessary
to prevent potential breakdowns.
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a
related field.
5+ years of hands-on experience in the maintenance of SMT equipment in
the EMS industry.
In-depth knowledge of SMT equipment, including pick-and-place machines,
screen printers, reflow ovens, AOI, and SPI systems.
Strong troubleshooting skills in mechanical, electrical, and software systems
associated with SMT machinery.

Experience with preventive maintenance programs and methodologies.
Familiarity with industry-standard maintenance management software (e.g.,
CMMS) is a plus.

Knowledge of automation and control systems used in SMT production lines.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work
collaboratively in a team environment.
Preferred Skills:

Familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles and TPM (Total Productive
Maintenance).
