Job Summary:


We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Tech Lead, Software Engineering (JAVA) to join our development team. In this leadership role, you will be responsible for driving the technical direction of projects, overseeing the design and development of software solutions and leading a team of engineers to deliver high-quality products.

Key Responsibilities:


Lead Technical Direction:

  • Help drive the technical vision and architecture of software products, ensuring they align with business goals and user needs.
  • Provide leadership in solving complex technical challenges, ensuring solutions are scalable, maintainable and high-performing.

Team Leadership and Mentorship:

  • Lead and mentor a team of software engineers, helping them grow their technical skills in Java, Angular, Spring, SQL and fostering a culture of collaboration and improving team performance.
  • Conduct code reviews, provide constructive feedback and ensure adherence to best practices and coding standards.
  • Foster a supportive environment that encourages learning, growth and innovation.

Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams:

  • Work closely with product managers, designers and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Participate in planning, scoping, and prioritizing project tasks to ensure timely and high-quality delivery.

Architect and Design Software Solutions:

  • Lead the design and architecture of new features and systems, ensuring they are designed for scale, reliability and performance.
  • Define and document system designs, architecture principles and technical requirements.

Solve Complex Technical Problems:

  • Lead efforts in debugging and troubleshooting complex technical issues in development and production environments.
  • Provide technical guidance to the team on solving challenging engineering problems.

Drive the Development Lifecycle:

  • Oversee the full software development lifecycle, including design, development, testing and deployment.
  • Ensure the team adheres to agile methodologies, continuous integration and DevOps practices to streamline the development process.

Improve Development Practices:

  • Advocate for and implement improvements in software development processes, tools and workflows.
  • Introduce new technologies and frameworks when appropriate to improve the team's productivity and the software's capabilities.

Ensure Code Quality and Best Practices:

  • Establish and promote coding standards, design patterns and best practices across the team.
  • Ensure the team follows software testing practices, such as unit testing and test-driven development (TDD) to maintain a high standard of quality.

Performance and Scalability:

  • Monitor the performance of the software and identify areas for optimization, ensuring the product can scale as user demand grows.
  • Conduct performance testing, code profiling and continuous optimization to improve system efficiency.

Foster a Positive Team Culture:

  • Encourage open communication, constructive feedback and a culture of mutual respect among team members.
  • Lead by example in promoting work-life balance, innovation and ownership.

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's or Masters degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • 8-11 years of experience in software development, with at least 4 years in a leadership or senior role overseeing development efforts and teams.
  • Strong proficiency in multiple programming languages (Java, Angular, CSS, Javascript, Typescript) and experience with modern software frameworks.
  • Extensive experience in Java
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and motivate a team of engineers, fostering a positive, collaborative work environment.
  • Good knowledge and experience using Oracle/ SQL Server Database, PL/SQL queries, application server (like JBoss, WildFly, Tomcat, or IBM Websphere) and Linux is preferable
  • Proficient in object-oriented design and development using SOLID design principles and design patterns.
  • Quality and test first development mindset
  • Deep technical knowledge in Continuous Integration and deployment (CI/CD) with Azure pipelines.
  • Experience with database designs, T-SQL and stored procedures
  • Successful track record in delivering high quality products while working in Agile Teams and following Agile methodologies.
  • Proven experience leading technical teams, guiding engineers through complex challenges and influencing technical direction.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and experience troubleshooting complex technical issues.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills with the ability to effectively interact with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Able to define and adhere to technical standards within a development team.
  • Ability to strongly influence peers and technical staff within the team.
  • Previous experience with Reconciliation and/or month-end close applications is preferred.
