Role: Tool Room Manager
Location: Kanpur
Business: Adani Defence and Aerospace
Qualification: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 05 years of equivalent experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Tool Inventory Management:
- Maintain accurate records of all tools and dies within the tool room, including tracking usage, condition, and location.
- Implement a robust tool check-in and check-out system to ensure accountability.
- Monitor tool stock levels and initiate timely reordering to prevent production disruptions.
- Tool Maintenance and Repair:
- Oversee preventative maintenance schedules for all tooling to minimize downtime and extend tool life.
- Coordinate tool repairs with external vendors or internal maintenance teams when necessary.
- Ensure proper cleaning and storage of tools to maintain their quality.
- Staff Supervision:
- Lead and manage a team of tool room technicians, assigning tasks and ensuring efficient workflow.
- Provide training and development opportunities for tool room staff to enhance their skills.
- Monitor performance and address any issues related to tool handling and maintenance.
- Production Support:
- Collaborate with production teams to identify and address tooling related issues impacting production.
- Ensure timely delivery of required tools to production lines.
- Work with engineering teams to develop new tooling for new products or process improvements.
- Quality Control:
- Monitor tool quality and implement measures to prevent defects and ensure product consistency.
- Conduct regular tool inspections and identify potential issues before they affect production.
- Cost Management:
- Analyze tool usage and identify opportunities to optimize tool life and reduce costs.
- Manage tool procurement process to ensure cost-effective sourcing.
- Understanding of Auto CAD drawing/PDF supplied by machine supplier.
7. Required Skills and Qualifications:
a. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 05 years of equivalent experience in a manufacturing environment.
b. Proven experience in managing a tool room within a production facility.
c. Strong understanding of machining processes, tooling design, and maintenance practices.
d. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to troubleshoot tool issues
e. Proficiency in inventory management systems and basic computer skills
f. Leadership qualities to effectively manage a team of technicians Knowledge of relevant safety regulations and practices within a manufacturing environment.
