- bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience as a Tooling Designer.
- Hands-on experience assembling, operating, trouble-shooting and qualifying tooling.
- Excellent breadth of experience in machine component and mechanical system design.
- High degree of mechanical aptitude.
- Highly knowledgeable of standard manufacturing processes.
- Highly knowledgeable in the use of inspection tooling.
- Ability to optimize tool design to ensure high reliability.
- Ability to implement lean practices into the design of the tools to streamline operations while maintaining strict safety standards and quality control measures.
- Ability to collaborate with other engineers to develop innovative tooling solutions for complex problems.
- Thorough knowledge of typical metallic alloys and coatings used in the construction of manufacturing tooling.
- Proficient in 3D CAD Modeling.
- Ability to create detailed drawings including the use of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) to convey precise manufacturing specification and assembly instructions for out-sourced manufacturing of tooling.
- Experience soliciting proposals from vendors and working with vendors as the tool is manufactured.
- Must be proficient in spoken and written English.
- Must be self-directed and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and willing to take on new responsibilities which may be outside of normal day-to-day work.
Valuable Experiences
- Familiarity with Creo or Solidworks.
- Working with high pressure systems or vacuum systems.
- Six Sigma Green Belt and Black Belt Certifications.
- Working as a machinist or quality inspector.
- Working with presses, punch tools, progressive dies.
