Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Manager - Legal to join our team. The ideal candidate will oversee all legal matters, ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and provide strategic legal advice to support our business objectives. This role requires a proactive and detail-oriented professional who can manage complex legal issues while collaborating across departments.

Key Responsibilities

Legal Compliance & Risk Management

• Ensure that the company's operations comply with all relevant laws, including media, intellectual property, and labor laws.
• Identify potential legal risks and provide strategies for mitigation.

Contract Management

• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents to safeguard the company's interests.

Litigation & Dispute Resolution

• Manage and oversee all litigation, arbitration, and dispute resolution processes.
• Act as the primary liaison with external legal counsel, providing case briefs and updates as necessary.

Advisory & Stakeholder Liaison

• Provide legal advice to internal departments, including editorial, marketing, HR, sales, and operations.
• Work closely with the leadership team to support business decisions from a legal standpoint.

Policy Development & Training

• Develop and implement company policies and procedures to ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
• Conduct training sessions for employees on relevant legal and regulatory topics.

Employment & Labor Laws

• Oversee employment-related legal issues, including labor law compliance, dispute resolution, and litigation.

Real Estate & Property Management

• Manage legal aspects of real estate transactions, property disputes, and agreements.

Regulatory Affairs & Public Policy

• Monitor the regulatory landscape and ensure compliance.
• Conduct workshops and contribute to public policy initiatives when relevant.

Qualifications & Experience

• Education:
• Bachelors degree in law (LLB) from a recognized university.
• Experience:
• 58 years of proven experience in a similar role, preferably in the media industry.
• Skills & Attributes:
• Strong knowledge of media law, intellectual property law, labor laws, and corporate law.
• Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
• Proficiency in Kannada and English (both written and spoken).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
• Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
