Job Description: Assistant General Manager DRI Process

Experience: 12-18 years in DRI Process (350 TPD or higher)

Location: Jharsuguda

Reporting To: HEAD Operation- DRI

Roles & Responsibilities:

1. Plant Operations & Process Optimization

• Oversee daily operations of the DRI plant and ensure smooth production.
• Optimize process parameters to achieve high productivity, yield, and energy efficiency.
• Monitor raw material quality (iron ore, coal, dolomite, etc.) and take corrective actions as required.
• Ensure minimal downtime and quick resolution of operational bottlenecks.

2. Kiln & Cooler Management

• Supervise the operations of the rotary kiln and cooler to ensure efficient production.
• Analyze temperature profiles, retention time, and material flow in the kiln.
• Ensure proper refractory maintenance and suggest improvements.

3. Production Planning & Control

• Coordinate with the production planning team to meet daily, weekly, and monthly production targets.
• Ensure proper utilization of manpower, machinery, and resources.
• Analyze production reports and implement corrective actions for deviations.

4. Quality Control & Compliance

• Ensure adherence to given quality standards of sponge iron production.
• Monitor metallization, carbon content, and other quality parameters.
• Coordinate with the Quality Control team for continuous improvement in product quality.
• Ensure compliance with environmental norms and pollution control measures.

5. Process Improvement & Cost Optimization

• Identify areas for process improvements to enhance productivity and reduce operational costs.
• Optimize coal and iron ore consumption to improve efficiency.
• Implement best practices and new technologies for better performance

6.. Equipment Maintenance & Reliability

• Work closely with the mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation teams to ensure proper maintenance of kiln, cooler, ESP, and auxiliary equipment.
• Plan and execute preventive and predictive maintenance strategies.
• Minimize breakdowns and improve equipment reliability.

7. Manpower Management

• Lead and mentor shift in-charges, control room operators, and field operators.
• Provide technical guidance and training to improve workforce skills.
• Ensure smooth coordination between production and maintenance teams.

8. Reporting & Documentation

• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production and efficiency reports.
• Maintain records of process parameters, raw material consumption, and deviations.
• Present performance reports to senior management and suggest improvements.

Key Skills & Competencies:

✅ Strong technical knowledge of DRI (Sponge Iron) process and plant operations.

✅ Expertise in handling kilns (350 TPD or higher) and optimizing process parameters.

✅ Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.

✅ Hands-on experience in process automation and control room operations.

✅ Knowledge of pollution control measures and statutory compliances.

✅ Excellent communication and reporting skills.

Experience

• B.E./B.Tech in Metallurgy.
• Diploma in Engineering, as above with relevant experience may also be considered.
