JioTesseract , a digital arm of Reliance Industries, is Indias leading and largest AR/VR organization with the mission to democratize mixed reality for India and the world. We specialize in creating solutions in AR, VR and AI, with some of our notable products such as JioGlass, JioDive, 360 Streaming, Metaverse, AR/VR headsets for consumers and enterprise space.

About the Job

As PMO Head, you will be responsible for establishing, leading, and optimizing the Project Management Office for all projects across the organization. This role involves managing a portfolio of technical projects, driving best practices in project execution, ensuring alignment with strategic technology goals, and fostering cross-functional collaboration between business and technology teams. You must have a deep technical background, strong project management skills, and a proven ability to deliver complex projects on time, within scope, and on budget.

What You ll Be Doing

  1. PMO Leadership and Strategy
  • Define and execute the strategic vision for the Technical PMO to ensure alignment with the organization s overall technology strategy.
  • Establish project management frameworks (Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid) to suit the technical environment and ensure consistency across project delivery.
  • Create governance processes, performance metrics, and reporting standards for technical projects.
  • Foster an environment of continuous improvement, driving innovation in project management and technical execution.

2. Technical Project Portfolio Management

  • Oversee the entire portfolio of technical projects, including software development, infrastructure upgrades, IT transformations, and digital initiatives.
  • Ensure that technical projects are aligned with business and technology goals, with clear prioritization and resource allocation.
  • Implement tools for tracking project performance, budgets, timelines, and resource allocation, ensuring transparency and accountability.
  • Provide leadership in balancing conflicting demands of multiple ongoing technical projects to ensure timely and successful delivery.

3. Project Execution and Delivery

  • Lead project managers in the successful delivery of complex technical projects, ensuring they meet business needs, technical requirements, and budget constraints.
  • Act as a point of escalation for technical issues, working closely with project managers and technical leads to resolve challenges in real-time.
  • Establish and manage appropriate project documentation, including technical specifications, architecture designs, and deployment plans.
  • Work with cross-functional teams (development, engineering, IT, operations) to ensure technical feasibility, and manage dependencies across different teams.
    1. Risk Management and Issue Resolution
  • Proactively identify and manage project risks, particularly those related to technology, security, and infrastructure.
  • Implement risk mitigation strategies, ensuring projects stay on track despite technical challenges or changes in requirements.
  • Ensure timely escalation and resolution of technical issues that could impact project timelines or outcomes.
  • Conduct regular reviews and audits of technical project performance and compliance with organizational standards.

5. Resource Management and Capacity Planning

  • Manage technical project resources, ensuring the right mix of skills and availability across projects.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to allocate resources efficiently and resolve resource conflicts.
  • Lead resource forecasting and capacity planning to ensure the organization has the required technical talent to deliver on its projects.
  • Develop a high-performing team of project managers and technical experts through training, mentoring, and ongoing performance reviews.

6. Stakeholder and Vendor Management

  • Act as the key liaison between technology teams, business units, and external vendors, ensuring clear communication and alignment on technical projects.
  • Build and maintain relationships with senior leadership, ensuring that technical projects are aligned with strategic business objectives.
  • Negotiate with external vendors, contractors, and service providers, ensuring timely delivery of technical components or services required for project completion.

7. Agile Transformation and Process Optimization:

  • Lead the organization s shift towards Agile methodologies, particularly for software development, DevOps, and IT infrastructure projects.
  • Promote Agile best practices, including Scrum, Kanban, and Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD), to improve project outcomes and technical efficiency.
  • Ensure that the PMO leverages modern technical tools and methodologies to optimize project management, such as JIRA, Confluence, or other collaborative platforms.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Successful delivery of technical projects within scope, budget, and timelines.
  • Adherence to technical governance frameworks and best practices.
  • Efficiency in resource allocation and capacity management.
  • Reduction in project risks and timely resolution of technical issues.
  • Stakeholder satisfaction with project outcomes.
  • Continuous improvement in PMO and technical project management processes

What We Need To See

  • PMP (Project Management Professional), PRINCE2, or equivalent project management certification required.
  • Agile or Scrum certifications (CSM, SAFe, etc.) are highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience in managing technical projects, with at least 5 years in a leadership or PMO role within a technical environment.
  • Proven experience managing complex technical projects involving software development, infrastructure, or IT operations.
  • Experience leading PMO functions in organizations with a significant focus on technology or product development.
  • Strong technical background with a solid understanding of software development lifecycles, IT infrastructure, cloud computing, and DevOps.
  • Expertise in project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid) and tools (JIRA, MS Project, etc.).
  • Excellent leadership, team management, and mentoring skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Proficiency in risk management, budgeting, and financial reporting for technical projects.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
