Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic professional to join our organization as Assistant Vice President (AVP) Business Tax Returns (US). The successful candidate will oversee a large team responsible for managing and delivering high-quality business tax return services for US-based clients. This role demands strong leadership, technical expertise in US business tax laws, and the ability to drive operational efficiency while ensuring compliance and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Management

• Lead, mentor, and manage a team of 70+ tax professionals, fostering a high-performance culture.
• Establish clear goals and performance metrics for the team, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of business tax return services.
• Provide ongoing coaching and professional development to team members.

Operational Excellence

• Oversee the end-to-end preparation and review of business tax returns (e.g., partnerships, corporations, LLCs).
• Ensure adherence to US federal, state, and local tax laws, regulations, and filing deadlines.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, quality, and accuracy.
• Compliance & Quality Assurance
• Establish and enforce robust quality control measures for tax return preparation and filing.
• Stay updated on changes in US tax regulations and ensure compliance across all tax-related activities.
• Client Relationship Management
• Act as the primary point of contact for escalations and complex tax issues.
• Collaborate with clients to understand their business needs and provide tailored tax solutions.
• Build and maintain strong relationships to drive client satisfaction and retention.
• Strategic Planning & Execution
• Support the development and execution of the business tax units strategic plan.
• Contribute to resource planning, budgeting, and forecasting for the unit.
• Collaborate with senior leadership to align team objectives with organizational goals.

Qualifications

• Education:
• Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA, EA, or equivalent certification preferred).
• Experience:
• 10+ years of experience in US business tax preparation and compliance, with at least 5 years in a leadership role managing large teams.
• Extensive experience handling complex business tax returns (e.g., Form 1120, Form 1065, etc.).
• Skills & Competencies:
• In-depth knowledge of US federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
• Proven ability to lead and manage large teams in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients and team members.
• Proficiency in tax preparation software and tools.
