CAPL Expert - System & Software Testing

Role & responsibilities

In the automotive and ADAS domains, a tester needs to validate both the hardware-software integration (System Testing) and software functionalities (Software Testing) comprehensively. This dual capability ensures that electronic components, communication protocols (CAN/CAN-FD/Ethernet), and diagnostic interfaces (UDS) work together seamlessly, while also confirming that the embedded software meets safety (ISO 26262), performance, and functional requirements. Having expertise in both areas helps detect issues early, maintain high quality, and meet critical industry standards and regulations.

System Testing:

• Conduct system-level testing in automotive and ADAS domains.
• Use Canoe, RBS, and debuggers for system validation and troubleshooting.
• Perform hardware debugging using digital oscilloscopes, DMMs, function generators, and other electronic diagnostic tools.
• Develop and maintain scripts using CAPL/Python to automate testing procedures.
• Work with CAN/CAN-FD/Ethernet protocols and diagnostics, ensuring system reliability and compliance.
• Apply ISO 26262 and ASPICE standards for requirement analysis, test case design, and review.
• Execute HIL (Hardware-in-the-Loop) testing and analyze results.
• Familiarity with UDS for diagnostic services.

Software Testing:

• Perform Software Qualification Testing (black box testing) with a focus on Vector tools like Canoe and vTestStudio.
• Write and review CAPL scripts to test CAN and UDS protocols at the software level.
• Understand and refine software requirements, ensuring clarity and testability.
• Apply ASPICE-defined test disciplines to maintain high-quality software standards.
• Leverage ADAS feature experience to validate cutting-edge functionalities.
• Work with Git and Jenkins for version control and continuous integration.
• Enhance and maintain Python scripts for automation and efficiency.

Preferred candidate profile

• Strong expertise in CAPL scripting and automotive testing methodologies.
• Hands-on experience with Canoe, RBS, vTestStudio, and debuggers.
• Proficient in CAN/CAN-FD/Ethernet protocols and UDS diagnostics.
• Understanding of ISO 26262 and ASPICE for automotive testing.
• Proven experience in HIL testing, with the ability to interpret test data and drive closure of issues.
• Familiarity with electronic hardware debugging tools (digital oscilloscopes, DMMs, function generators).
• Working knowledge of Python for scripting and automation.
• Solid grasp of software requirement analysis, test case design, and test case review.

Good to have:

• ISTQB Certification
• Experience with ADAS features
• Working knowledge of Git and Jenkins
• Proficiency in C language
