Job Purpose:
The Head of Taxation at a Renewable Company is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of tax planning, compliance, and reporting for the organization. This role plays a critical role in ensuring tax efficiency, minimizing tax risks, and ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations. The Head of Taxation will collaborate with internal teams, external advisors, and tax authorities to develop and execute tax strategies that align with the company goals and objectives.
Given multiple entities and projects at different stage, the role of Head - Taxation is critical to ensure that organization is on the right side of the law with all the requisite compliances.
1. Managing complete tax portfolio of the business (direct and indirect taxes)
2. Formulating tax policies and tax planning of the business
3. Complete tax compliance of the business
4. Handling of all direct and indirect tax matters on day to day basis
5. Filing of all direct and indirect tax returns (monthly, quarterly, and annual tax returns)
6. Handling tax assessments, queries, appeals etc and close monitoring of all the open tax matters (both direct and indirect tax)
7. Handling various appeals at different assessment levels
8. Close coordination with various tax consultants and with internal/statutory auditors
9. Support for valuation of the business from time to time
10. Support for tax assumption for various bids/financial model
11. Completion of tax audit of various SPVs of the business
4) Principal Accountabilities Accountability Supporting Actions
Develop and implement tax strategies:
- Develop and execute tax planning strategies to optimize the company's tax position while ensuring compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations.
- Analyze the impact of tax legislation and regulations on the organization and make recommendations for necessary adjustments.
- Identify opportunities to maximize tax incentives and credits related to renewable energy initiatives.
Ensure tax compliance:
- Oversee all tax compliance activities, including the preparation and filing of tax returns (income tax, GST, withholding tax, etc.).
- Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations and assess their impact on the company's tax compliance requirements.
- Develop and implement processes and controls to ensure accurate and timely tax filings.
Manage tax audits and disputes:
- Coordinate and manage tax audits conducted by tax authorities or external auditors.
- Respond to tax inquiries and notices from tax authorities and ensure timely and accurate resolution of any disputes.
- Collaborate with external tax advisors, legal counsel, and finance teams to address tax-related issues and minimize tax risks.
Provide tax guidance and support:
- Advise internal stakeholders on the tax implications of business transactions, investments, and strategic initiatives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as finance, legal, and operations, to ensure tax considerations are integrated into business plans and decision-making processes.
- Develop and deliver tax training programs to educate employees on tax matters relevant to their roles.
- Stay updated on tax regulations and industry trends
- Stay current with changes in tax laws, regulations, and reporting requirements specific to the renewable energy industry.
- Monitor industry trends and best practices in tax management for renewable companies.
- Provide insights and recommendations to senior management on emerging tax issues and opportunities.
- Manage relationships with external stakeholders
