The Role
The IOT Developer - Aveva PI system, reporting to Senior General Manager - IT, is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the Aveva PI IIoT platform. The core responsibilities include the development of new dashboards, reports, and onboarding new equipments/instruments. Key accountabilities encompass resolving system issues, bridging gaps in IIoT system shortcomings through user discussions, ensuring smooth system functionality, modifying existing dashboards and reports, onboarding new equipment, developing new dashboards and reports, adding new alerts, and providing solutions to overcome user pain points in the IIoT system. The role involves technical skills in Aveva PI system program development & deployment, python coding, application modeling, subsystem management, custom dashboard/widget creation, Kepware/Matrikon Data connectors knowledge, MQTT & OPC UA protocol expertise, REST API knowledge, Python coding with analytics programming, and MS SQL Database management. Additional advantages include experience in Industry protocols (Modbus /TCP, Ethernet IP, BACnet/IP) application migration, custom extensions development, and domain knowledge in Pharma or process industries. The role is crucial in ensuring the optimal functioning and continuous improvement of the IIoT platform.

Role-specific:

Resolve the day-to-day system issues, if any.
Ensure the system functionality is working as desired and system operations are smooth
Discuss with users to understand additional business requirements from the platform (Aveva PI)
Modifications in the existing dashboard, & Reports.
Modification to existing alert as per the operations requirement.
Onboarding new equipments into the IOT system
Development of the new dashboards, reports as per user requirements
New alert additions to the existing equipment and deploying new alerts for the new equipment.
Help users to overcome their pain points by implementing the solutions in the IIoT system.
Modelling the new equipment type for creating the digital twin.

Technical Skills:

PI System Components: Proficiency in PI Server, PI Data Archive, PI Asset Framework (AF), PI Vision, PI DataLink, and PI Integrator for Business Analytics.
Programming Languages: Strong skills in programming languages in PI native programming, .NET, Python, and SQL.
PI SDK and API: Experience with PI SDK, PI API, and PI Web API for developing custom applications and integrations.
Data Analysis and Visualization: Ability to use PI Vision and other visualization tools to create meaningful dashboards and reports.
Integration Technologies: Knowledge of integration technologies and protocols such as OPC, MQTT, RESTful APIs, and web services.
Database Management: Experience with relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle) and data management practices.
System Administration: Understanding of system administration tasks related to PI System, including security, backup, and recovery.
Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
Communication: Excellent communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

Education

B. Tech / M. Tech preferably in Instrumentation or related Engineering

Certification: OSI PI certification is plus

Industry Experience

3-6 years of overall development experience (2+ years of experience in application development in Aveva PI)
