EMBEDDED FIRMWARE ENGINEER/ Sr. FIRMWARE ENGINEER

Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Embedded Firmware Engineer with 4-7 years of experience to develop, test, and maintain embedded software solutions for a range of cutting-edge hardware systems. The ideal candidate will have experience in embedded systems design, C/C++ programming, and hardware integration. You will work in a collaborative, cross-functional environment to ensure the successful delivery of embedded firmware solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Firmware Development:
• Design, implement, and optimize embedded firmware for microcontrollers, sensors, and communication interfaces.
• Write efficient, maintainable, and reliable embedded C/C++ code.
• Develop low-level drivers and middleware to interact with hardware components like UART, SPI, I2C, PWM, ADC/DAC, etc.
• Design and implement real-time operating system (RTOS)-based software for time-sensitive applications.
• Integrate and debug hardware/software issues across different platforms.
2. System Design and Architecture:
• Collaborate with hardware engineers to understand system requirements and propose firmware solutions.
• Develop system architecture for embedded systems that meet project specifications.
• Evaluate and select appropriate microcontrollers, sensors, and communication protocols for different applications.
3. Testing and Debugging:
• Write unit tests, functional tests, and integration tests to ensure firmware quality.
• Debug and troubleshoot firmware issues using debugging tools such as JTAG, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and in-circuit emulators (ICE).
• Perform system-level testing to validate firmware performance against design specifications.
• Optimize firmware for performance, memory usage, and power consumption.
4. Cross-Functional Collaboration:
• Work closely with hardware engineers, system engineers, and software engineers to ensure seamless integration of firmware and hardware.
• Provide technical support to cross-functional teams and help solve embedded system-related issues.
5. Documentation:
• Create detailed design documentation, including firmware specifications, code comments, and user manuals.
• Maintain version control and code repositories, ensuring clear documentation of changes and releases.
6. Continuous Improvement:
• Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in embedded systems, hardware, and firmware development.
• Contribute to the improvement of software development processes, tools, and best practices.
• Lead efforts to improve code quality, performance, and maintainability.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• 4-7 years of professional experience in embedded systems development.
• Strong proficiency in embedded C and/or C++ programming languages.
• Hands-on experience with microcontrollers (e.g., ARM Cortex, PIC, AVR, etc.) and peripheral interfaces (UART, SPI, I2C, GPIO).
• Experience with RTOS (e.g., FreeRTOS) and bare-metal development.
• Experience with debugging tools such as JTAG, logic analyzers, and oscilloscopes.
• Knowledge of embedded system design principles, memory management, and power optimization.
• Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git, SVN).
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with wireless communication protocols such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Zigbee, or LoRa.
• Knowledge of Linux-based embedded systems.
• Familiarity with cloud integration and IoT systems.
• Experience with hardware design and schematics.
• Experience on Automotive domain and knowledge of Protocols like OCPP, AUTOSAR shall be an added advantage.
• Experience with Agile methodologies and development tools.
