Aluminum TIG Welder Responsibilities:

• Set Up and Calibration of Equipment:
  
• Set up the TIG welding machine, adjusting settings for AC/DC current, amperage, voltage, and pulse modes.
• Select and prepare appropriate tungsten electrodes and filler rods.
• Ensure the machine is calibrated for optimal performance, ensuring precise heat control for aluminum.
• Prepare and Clean Materials:
• Thoroughly clean aluminum surfaces, removing oxidation, dirt, and oil using stainless steel brushes or appropriate solvents (like acetone).
• Ensure the workpiece is properly prepped for welding, including cutting, beveling, or fitting materials correctly.
• Perform TIG Welding:
• Weld aluminum components using TIG welding techniques, adjusting travel speed, filler rod feed, and torch angle.
• Manage heat input to prevent warping, burn-through, or distortion, especially for thin-walled aluminum.
• Use the correct welding technique for various joint configurations (butt, fillet, corner, etc.).
• Inspect and Maintain Weld Quality:
• Visually inspect welds for consistency, clean bead appearance, and absence of defects like porosity, undercut, or cracks.
• Perform quality checks according to blueprints and specifications, ensuring the weld meets the required standards.
• Conduct non-destructive testing (NDT), if required, such as ultrasonic testing or x-rays.
• Maintain Safety Standards:
• Use personal protective equipment (PPE) including gloves, helmets, and protective clothing.
• Follow all workplace safety standards related to high-frequency current, fumes, and heat hazards.
• Ensure proper ventilation in the welding area to minimize exposure to welding fumes.
• Troubleshoot Welding Issues:
• Identify common welding issues such as inconsistent heat, poor fusion, or contamination.
• Adjust welding parameters (such as amperage and travel speed) to solve these issues on the fly.
• Tool and Equipment Maintenance:
• Regularly clean and maintain TIG welding tools and equipment.
• Replace tungsten electrodes and other consumables as necessary.
