New Packaging Coordinator

Role & responsibilities

• Alignment with Company Mission, Vision, and Core Values:
  Ensure that all actions and decisions are aligned with the company's mission, vision, and core values, and promote the same principles within the team to foster a consistent organizational culture.
• Understanding of Printing Processes:
  Maintain a thorough understanding of various printing processes, including gravure, offset, digital, and other related methods, to effectively coordinate and guide packaging development.
• Design Archiving:
  Establish and maintain an organized archive for both new and old packaging designs, ensuring easy retrieval and preservation of all design assets for future reference.
• Creative Design Materials Management:
  Oversee and manage all aspects of creative design materials, including websites, emails, point-of-purchase (POP) materials, stationery, and advertising materials related to the packaging design process.
• Package Development Documentation:
  Prepare essential documentation required to initiate the package development process, ensuring all critical details are in place to meet project timelines and milestones.
• Package Specifications and Information Management:
  Gather and maintain comprehensive details regarding packaging, product specifications, printing requirements, limitations, and any other relevant information necessary for the development process.
• Follow-up with Directors and Creative Agency:
  Proactively follow up with Directors and the Creative Agency to ensure timely receipt of all outstanding information needed for project progression.
• Proofing of Package Designs:
  Conduct careful and thorough proofing of all package design proofs, ensuring correct application of UPC codes, distribution information, logos, copy, and color accuracy.
• Approval Routing and Facilitation:
  Organize, route, and facilitate the approval process for all packaging proofs throughout the design cycle, from initial concepts and design briefs to final mechanicals.
• Project Status Communication:
  Maintain open and timely communication regarding the status of each project, ensuring all stakeholders are updated on progress and any potential delays.
• Compliance with Packaging Requirements:
  Ensure that all packaging products meet established requirements, specifications, and quality standards, including regulatory compliance where applicable.
• Departmental Objective Achievement:
  Drive the achievement of departmental objectives by effectively managing resources, processes, and timelines to meet organizational goals.
• Standard Operating Procedures (SOP):
  Develop, maintain, and ensure adherence to departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), ensuring consistency and efficiency in all packaging operations.
• Departmental Calendar Adherence:
  Follow the departmental calendar closely to ensure that all packaging-related projects are aligned with company timelines and milestones, minimizing delays and ensuring successful product launches.

Preferred candidate profile

Education:

• Bachelor's Degree in Packaging Engineering, Industrial Design, Marketing, Business Administration, Graphic Design, or related fields.

Experience:

• 0-5 years of experience in packaging development, project coordination, or a related field.
• Familiarity in working with cross-functional teams, particularly in product development, marketing, and design.
• Familiarity with New Product Development (NPD) processes, including managing calendars and timelines.
• Familiarity with supplier and vendor management, particularly in the context of packaging production.
• Background in brand management or marketing is advantageous for understanding packagings role in product positioning.

Skills:

• Project Management: Ability to manage multiple tasks and timelines while maintaining high attention to detail.
• Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills to facilitate coordination between teams and external partners.
• Creative and Design Sensibility: Understanding of design principles for packaging and ability to evaluate packaging from a consumer-centric and functional perspective.
• Problem-Solving: Ability to address challenges in packaging development, including cost, quality, and timeline management.
• Knowledge of Packaging Materials and Trends: Familiarity with a variety of packaging materials, processes, and emerging trends (e.g., sustainable packaging solutions).
• Software Proficiency: Experience with tools like Microsoft Office Suite, project management software (e.g., Asana, Trello), and design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite) is a plus.
