We are seeking a skilled Power BI Report Writer to join our dynamic team and help us leverage data-driven insights to drive business decisions.

Job Summary: The Report Writer will be responsible for developing, analyzing, and maintaining business intelligence (BI) reports and dashboards using Power BI and Phocas. This role involves working closely with various departments to gather requirements, design data models, and create insightful reports that support our wholesale distribution operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Data Extraction and Analysis: Extract data from various databases and data warehouses for reporting and analysis.
• Report Development: Design, develop, and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards to provide actionable insights.
• Requirement Gathering: Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their reporting needs and translate them into technical requirements.
• Data Modeling: Create and maintain semantic models to support reporting and analysis.
• Performance Tuning: Optimize reports and dashboards for performance and usability.
• Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation for all reports, dashboards, and data models.
• Training and Support: Provide training and support to end-users on Power BI tools and reports.
• UX / UI: Focus on aesthetics and user experience when developing a report. Create templates for each functional area of the business which accentuates the functionality of the departments.
• Usage: Audit usage and retire reports which no longer deliver valuable insight

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Business, or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in BI reporting, with a focus on Power BI.
• Technical Skills: Proficient in Power BI, DAX, PQ, and data modeling. Experience with other BI tools (e.g., Python, JSON, T-SQL) is a plus.
• Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
• Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present findings to non-technical stakeholders.
• Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with the wholesale distribution sector is preferred.
• Desire to learn our business processes and industry.
