Backend Architect

smartSense Solutions is looking for a Backend Architect (NodeJS) to join our growing development team in Gandhinagar. This role provides a unique opportunity to take ownership of backend architecture and influence the development process as we scale. As a Backend Architect, your primary responsibility will be to design, develop, and maintain a secure, scalable, and well-tested API layer. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance of backend services.

• Design, develop, and maintain robust RESTful APIs and backend services using Node.js.
• Architect and implement scalable solutions to handle high-volume transactions and enhance performance.
• Ensure security best practices are followed, including authentication, authorization, and data encryption.
• Optimize database interactions, focusing on performance tuning and query optimization (preferably in MySQL).
• Take full ownership of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), ensuring best coding practices, testing, and deployment.
• Implement unit testing and integration testing to ensure the reliability and quality of backend services.
• Debug and troubleshoot complex system issues, ensuring application stability and minimizing downtime.
• Continuously evaluate and implement new technologies to enhance backend architecture and improve development efficiency.
• Work in an agile development environment, collaborating with product managers, front-end developers, and QA engineers.
• Document technical specifications and API endpoints to maintain clear, comprehensive, and accessible backend documentation.
• Address and prioritize production-level bugs and application performance improvements in a structured manner.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior developers, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and best practices.

• Minimum 5 years of experience in Node.js development.
• Strong understanding of backend architecture, microservices, and API design.
• Hands-on experience with MySQL or other relational databases, with the ability to write and optimize queries.
• Expertise in working with Unix/Linux-based systems.
• Knowledge of asynchronous programming and event-driven architectures.
• Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes (preferred).
• Proficiency in using Git for version control and CI/CD pipelines for automated deployments.
• Strong knowledge of caching strategies (e.g., Redis, Memcached) and message queues (e.g., RabbitMQ, Kafka).
• Familiarity with cloud services (AWS, GCP, or Azure) for deploying and scaling backend applications.
• Experience in writing and maintaining unit tests and integration tests using Jest, Mocha, or similar frameworks.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate technical ideas effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Understanding of agile development methodologies and best practices.

• Experience with GraphQL and WebSocket implementations.
• Familiarity with Serverless architectures (AWS Lambda, Firebase Functions).
• Exposure to DevOps practices and infrastructure as code (Terraform, Ansible).
• Knowledge of API security best practices, including OAuth, JWT, and role-based access control (RBAC).
