Application Engineer

We are in the process of identifying a suitable candidate for the role of Application Engineer for Automotive/Industrial Seals Business.
The industry segment encompasses Passenger Vehicles, Commercial Vehicles, Tractors, and Industrial applications.
This position is based in Gurugram and will report to the General Manager Application Engineering and Product Engineering.
The Application Engineer is responsible for defining the technical needs of our customers and translating them into an SKF product and service offering.
Working closely with Sales and Customer Service, they help generate profitable business through engineering solutions to customer needs.
They manage and lead technical partnership with customers, identifying opportunities, responding to inquiries, handling complaints, evaluating, and mitigating technical risks.
Job Responsibilities.
Independently lead and grow business engagement with OEM/Tier-1 Engineering and sourcing teams acting as customer single point of contact for seals.
Actively identify and pursue new business opportunities by understanding customer concerns and evolving market needs.
Identify and analyse the customer technical requirements and communicate the parameters clearly and accurately to the SKF engineering value chain.
Facilitate and drive engineering activities as per SKF ETO process from the start of business opportunity until end of production, including specification phase, prototype phase, industrialization phase, series production phase and warranty phase.
Create application engineering proposals and customized solutions according to customer requirements and present to customer in a clear and effective manner.
Work in coordination with SKF product design and product engineering teams to facilitate DFMEA and discuss the same with customer on a specific project or product line.
Promote and emphasize first-time quality by offering critical assessment of product or processes and employ continuous improvement activities such as lessons learned, warranty analysis, etc Participate in the execution of Root Cause Analysis of the customers' application issues and contribute to the issue resolution.
Represent SKF to our customers and institutions through visits, presentations, seminars, and industry events.
To follow management instructions and procedures; to report Environment Health and Safety (EHS) risks and EHS related incidents; to follow quality specifications and requirements and identify quality risks and opportunities for improvement.

Candidate Profile.
University Masters or Bachelors degree in Mechanical / Production/ Rubber with 6 10 yearsrelevant work experience in Sealing products and applications.
Dependable, reliable, and self-motivated.
Excellent communication skills.
Working knowledge of material selection, metal stampings, rubber process technology and design of seals in typical automotive and industrial applications.
In-depth Knowledge of industrial seals with an ability to interpret customer functional specifications and convert them into product designs.
Project Management skills with proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.
