Role Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Manager - Statutory Audit to join our team in Kolkata. The ideal candidate will be a qualified Chartered Accountant with a strong understanding of statutory audit principles and practices. You will be responsible for managing and executing statutory audits, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, and delivering high-quality audit services to our diverse client base.
Responsibilities:
Audit Planning and Execution:
- Develop and execute comprehensive audit plans in accordance with statutory requirements and firm methodologies.
- Conduct risk assessments and identify key audit areas.
- Perform detailed testing of financial statements and internal controls.
- Ensure adherence to auditing standards (SA) and relevant accounting standards (Ind AS/AS).
Compliance and Reporting:
- Ensure compliance with all applicable statutory and regulatory requirements, including Companies Act, Income Tax Act, and other relevant laws.
- Prepare accurate and timely audit reports, management letters, and other audit-related documentation.
- Identify and communicate audit findings and recommendations to clients and senior management.
Client Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their business and audit requirements.
- Act as a primary point of contact for clients during the audit process.
- Address client queries and provide professional advice on audit-related matters.
Team Management:
- Lead and supervise audit teams, providing guidance and support to junior staff.
- Review the work of team members and ensure quality and accuracy.
- Mentor and train junior staff, fostering their professional development.
- Allocate work load amongst team members.
Financial Analysis and Insights:
- Perform financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and potential risks.
- Provide insights and recommendations to clients based on audit findings and financial analysis.
- Contribute to the development of best practices and audit methodologies.
Continuous Improvement:
- Stay updated with changes in auditing standards, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in training and development programs to enhance professional skills.
- Contribute to the improvement of audit processes and procedures.
Documentation:
- Ensure all audit working papers are completed to a high standard.
- Maintain organized and complete audit files.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) is mandatory.
- Minimum of 4-6 years of relevant experience in statutory audits, preferably in a mid-sized or large accounting firm.
- Strong understanding of auditing standards (SA), accounting standards (Ind AS/AS), and relevant regulatory requirements.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and audit software.
- Experience in leading and managing audit teams.
- Strong client relationship management skills.
- Knowledge of tax laws is a plus.
