Job Description

Role & responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced Accounting & Compliance Executive to manage and oversee various accounting and statutory compliance functions. This role involves handling GST & Income Tax Return filings, ROC compliance, MSME and GST registration, vendor and customer reconciliations, preparation of balance sheets, vouching, and maintaining accurate books of accounts. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of accounting practices, taxation, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibility Areas (KRA):


  1. GST & Income Tax Return Filing:
    • Preparation and filing of monthly/quarterly/annual GST returns.
    • Timely filing of Income Tax Returns, including tax calculations and supporting documentation.
    • Reconciliation of GST and Income Tax records with financial statements and ledgers.
    • Regular monitoring of changes in GST and tax regulations to ensure compliance.
  2. ROC Compliance:
    • Ensure timely filing of statutory forms with the Registrar of Companies (ROC) for maintaining compliance with the Companies Act.
    • Preparation and submission of necessary ROC returns and documents.
    • Regular monitoring of corporate compliance requirements and ensuring adherence to deadlines.
  3. Computation of Income:
    • Assist in the computation of income for taxation purposes, including both corporate and individual tax filings.
    • Calculation of tax liabilities and preparation of income tax statements.
    • Maintain records for deductions, exemptions, and other tax-related adjustments.
  4. GST & MSME Registration:
    • Handle the process of GST registration for new clients and businesses.
    • Support MSME registration, ensuring that the necessary documentation and procedures are followed.
    • Maintain up-to-date records and filings for both GST and MSME registrations.
  5. Vendor & Customer Reconciliation:
    • Perform monthly reconciliation of vendor and customer accounts to ensure accuracy and resolve any discrepancies.
    • Coordinate with vendors and customers for outstanding issues related to invoicing, payments, or adjustments.
  6. Vouching and Verification:
    • Perform vouching of financial transactions and review supporting documents to ensure that they are legitimate, accurate, and compliant with internal controls.
    • Ensure that all transactions are properly recorded and authorized.
  7. Maintaining Books of Accounts:
    • Ensure that all financial transactions are accurately recorded in the books of accounts in compliance with applicable accounting standards.
    • Maintain ledgers, journals, and other records, ensuring proper documentation for audits.
    • Assist in month-end and year-end closing of books.
  8. Preparation of Company Balance Sheet:
    • Assist in the preparation of the companys balance sheet, profit and loss account, and other financial statements.
    • Analyze financial data and ensure that all accounts are balanced and in compliance with accounting principles.
    • Provide recommendations for financial improvements and cost-saving measures.
  9. General Accounting & Financial Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate financial records, manage general ledger entries, and provide reports for senior management.
    • Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual financial reports and audits.
    • Monitor cash flow and assist in budgeting and forecasting.

Preferred candidate profile

  • Educational Qualification: Bachelors degree in Commerce (B.Com) or a related field; Professional certification (e.g., CA Inter, CMA) is a plus.
  • Experience: 2-4 years of experience in accounting, taxation, and statutory compliance.
  • Knowledge of Accounting Software: Familiarity with Tally, QuickBooks, or other accounting tools. Advanced proficiency in MS Excel.
  • Technical Skills: In-depth knowledge of GST law, Income Tax Act, ROC compliance, and MSME registration processes.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong focus on accuracy and the ability to identify discrepancies in financial records.
  • Communication Skills: Good written and verbal communication skills for internal coordination and external client communication.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to analyze financial data, identify issues, and suggest solutions.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
