Site Testing Engineer

Role & responsibilities

• Reviewing customer specifications with engineering and marketing during project review to verify all testing requirements necessary for the transformer.
• Providing accurate forecast of time required for testing of transformer to master scheduler.
• Preparing test schedule for customer submission.
• Developing and maintaining internal test requirements that meet IEEE and IS standards.
• Ensuring latest requirements for IEEE test code C57.12.90 are current.
• Analyzing equipment and method used in testing and provide business case for upgrades to equipment.
• Using available test procedures and data to set up test and assist in the evaluation of the 1 performance of each transformer unit.
• Execute power transformer tests; composition of test circuit as per check sheet, complete low voltage testing, temperature rise test, and applied voltage test.
• Change test circuits as required to configure power transformer and test equipment for appropriate tests.
• Operate test equipment: complete tests as per procedure and training; low voltage equipment, loss measuring equipment, impulse measuring equipment, PD measurement system, etc.
• Perform repairs on equipment as required. Fabricate, install and test out equipment related to the testing operations.
• Keep test equipment, test areas and all related areas clean and in an orderly fashion.
• Perform daily maintenance review on test equipment to ensure optimal performance.

Preferred candidate profile

• A good technical understanding of Electrical Power Equipment (Transformer).
• Good verbal / written communication skills.
• Ability to effectively respond to and interact with staff at all levels of the organization.
• Ability to read electrical schematic blueprints as necessary, and project scheduling.
• Strong mechanical aptitudes, and a working knowledge of electrical, and mechanical systems.
• Excellent trouble shooting and diagnostic skills.
• Ability to define problems, and resolve them quickly.
• Familiar with all current health and safety regulations.
• Communicate effectively with internal and external customers and suppliers.
• Write detailed reports on quality issues.
• Proficient with Microsoft word, Excel, Power Point.
• Understand and support quality control and quality assurance system.
• Participate in complex issue investigations and investigation activities.
• Educational Qualification BE-EEE and ME High voltage.
• Meet all other requirements as assigned.
