About Us:

POSHN is a new and exciting India-based food supply chain venture founded in 2020 and supported by leading US based VCs, big venture debt and leading NBFCs.

We are on a mission to organize and digitally transform global food-supply chain market. We are applying first principles thinking and re-imagining the solutions with a tech-product first mindset.

The food-supply chain space is gigantic, complex and has been largely un-organised. So, we are taking the hassle out of it by creating a platform that empowers our products and facilitates a better, efficient and seamless experience between each stakeholder.


Team:

Core team holds together alumni of BITS Pilani, IIM & XLRI with each having decade long experience in the fields of supply chain, technology and product. Previously, we have built several highly impactful tech-product start-ups from ground up.


About the Role:

In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in shaping the company's financial landscape, enabling informed decision-making, and supporting its growth journey. Your multifaceted responsibilities require a combination of expertise, strategic thinking, and adaptability to drive the financial success of the organization.


Responsibilities

  • Strategic SOPs Updating: Updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) that span critical dimensions such as accounting, taxation, compliance, secretarial practices, and foreign exchange controls. This strategic approach ensures streamlined processes across the financial spectrum.
  • Enhancement of Systems and Processes: Leading efforts to improve existing systems and processes to ensure accurate and timely collection, storage, and submission of financial data. This includes leveraging technology to facilitate seamless data management.
  • Timely Financial Statements: Ensuring that key financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and Management Information Systems (MIS), are prepared and available punctually. These statements serve as the foundation for informed decision-making.
  • Balance Sheet Analysis: Your expertise will be employed to analyse fluctuations in balance sheet accounts, providing insightful explanations through monthly reviews. This aids in identifying trends, anomalies, and potential areas of concern.
  • Accounting and Legal Framework: Oversight over the setup and adherence of accounting, taxation, and legal frameworks. This ensures that the company operates within regulatory guidelines and follows best practices.
  • Internal Controls and Asset Protection: Establishing robust internal controls and procedures is a crucial part of this role. By doing so, you will safeguard the company's assets and uphold its value.
  • Compliance and Secretarial Matters: Overseeing compliance and secretarial aspects ensures that the company operates within legal parameters and fulfils its obligations.
  • Audit Management: Managing all statutory and external audits efficiently, coordinating the process to ensure that deadlines are met and requirements are fulfilled.
  • Fundraising and Investor Relations: Assisting the founders with fundraising initiatives and maintaining positive relationships with investors demonstrates your role in securing financial resources for the company's growth.
  • Budgeting and Variance Analysis: Playing a pivotal role in preparing annual budgets, analysing deviations from projections, and suggesting corrective actions to align financial performance with strategic goals.
  • Risk Management: Defining and executing processes for managing financial and operational risks will be a key responsibility. This involves identifying potential risks and implementing strategies to mitigate them.

Desired Candidate Profile:

  • Extensive Experience: A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in Finance, Accounting, and/or Controllership functions, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of financial operations.
  • Educational Background: Preferred qualifications include a CA/MBA degree coupled with a bachelor's in finance or accounting. This academic foundation equips you with the necessary financial acumen.
  • Startup Experience: Experience working with early-stage startup companies is advantageous, as it showcases your adaptability to fast-paced and dynamic environments.
  • Food, FMCG and manufacturing industry experience would be preferred.
  • Financial Expertise: Excellent knowledge of financial modelling, data analysis, and forecasting methods, allowing you to provide valuable insights into the company's financial trajectory.
  • Adaptability: Your ability to thrive in an environment characterized by constant change is essential, as startups often evolve rapidly.
  • Process Design and Efficiency: Your knack for designing scalable and efficient systems and processes contributes to the organization's operational excellence.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven team management and mentorship skills highlight your capacity to lead and inspire a financial team.
  • Attention to Detail and Strategic Thinking: An eye for detail combined with the ability to grasp the bigger picture helps you maintain precision while aligning financial strategies with overarching goals.
