Solar Design Engineer - Electrical

Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Solar Electrical Design Engineer to join our team, specializing in the design and development of low voltage solar electrical panels, DC distribution boxes, AC distribution boxes, and solar string monitoring boxes. In this role, you will be responsible for designing electrical systems that optimize the performance and safety of solar power installations. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that all electrical systems meet quality standards, are cost-effective, and comply with industry regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design Low Voltage Electrical Systems: Develop electrical designs for solar power systems, including solar electrical panels, DC and AC distribution boxes, and solar string monitoring boxes.
• Electrical Schematics and Diagrams: Create and review electrical schematics, one-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts using AutoCAD, EPLAN, or similar software.
• Component Selection: Select appropriate components (e.g., circuit breakers, fuses, relays, inverters, monitoring systems) based on system requirements, electrical load, and industry standards.
• System Integration: Work with the project team to integrate electrical systems within the overall solar energy solution, ensuring compatibility with inverters, batteries, and other renewable energy systems.
• Design Validation: Perform electrical load calculations, short-circuit studies, and system protection analysis to ensure that designs meet safety standards and function optimally under real-world conditions.
• Compliance and Standards: Ensure designs comply with national and international electrical codes, such as IEC, NEC, UL, and local standards for renewable energy systems.
• Testing and Troubleshooting: Participate in the testing and commissioning process, ensuring all electrical systems are properly installed and function as intended. Provide technical support to troubleshoot and resolve issues during installation.
• Collaboration: Work closely with mechanical engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to deliver comprehensive solar solutions on time and within budget.
• Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in solar electrical system design. Implement innovative solutions to improve performance and reliability.

Requirements:

• Education: Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum of 1-5 years of experience in electrical design, preferably with a focus on renewable energy systems or solar electrical systems.
• Technical Skills:
• Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, EPLAN, or similar tools.
• Knowledge of electrical design calculations, load flow analysis, and system protection methods.
• Experience with low voltage electrical systems, including DC/AC distribution systems, circuit breakers, fuse panels, and monitoring systems.
• Standards and Codes: Strong understanding of industry standards, including IEC 61727, IEC 62446, NEC, UL 1741, and local standards for solar energy systems.
• Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to troubleshoot electrical systems and provide effective solutions to design challenges.
• Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey technical information to both internal teams and clients.
• Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in design, documentation, and system integration.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Masters degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Experience with solar inverters, string monitoring systems, and energy storage systems.
• Familiarity with energy management systems (EMS) and PV system monitoring platforms.
• Knowledge of simulation and analysis software for solar electrical systems (e.g., PVsyst, HOMER, ETAP).
