Organize and facilitate training sessions on agroecological farming practices for local farmers.
Guide farmers in sustainable agriculture methods, focusing on soil health, crop diversity, and bio-inputs.
2. Agroecological Farming Demonstrations:
Implement and oversee field demonstrations, showcasing agroecological practices like bio-input preparation (e.g., Jeevamrut, compost), integrated pest management (IPM), and crop diversification.
Offer hands-on guidance to farmers on utilizing bio-inputs to improve soil fertility and reduce chemical use.
3. Agroecosystem Assessment:
Assess the overall health and functioning of agroecosystems in demonstration plots.
Monitor factors such as soil quality, biodiversity, water retention, and resilience to pests and diseases.
Provide insights on how different agroecological interventions are impacting ecosystem sustainability.
4. Data Collection & Monitoring:
Collect field-level data on crop performance, soil health, input usage, and yield outcomes from agroecological demonstrations.
Maintain detailed records of all inputs and practices for evaluation.
5. Report Generation:
Prepare comprehensive summary reports on agroecological farming demonstrations, including the package of practices, economic analysis, and agroecosystem health assessment.
Provide data-driven recommendations and insights for improving agroecological practices.
6. Collaboration & Communication:
Work closely with project teams, farmers, and local stakeholders to ensure smooth implementation of project activities.
Provide ongoing feedback and technical support to farmers on improving their farming systems.
Skills Required:
Strong knowledge of agroecological principles, bio-inputs, IPM, and integrated nutrient management (INM).
Experience in conducting farmer field schools and delivering practical demonstrations.
Familiarity with agroecosystem assessments, including monitoring soil health, biodiversity, and ecosystem sustainability.
Proficient in data collection, monitoring, and report writing.
Good communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with farming communities.
Qualifications: Bachelor s degree in Agriculture or a related field. Experience: Minimum 2-3 years of experience in agriculture, agroecology, or sustainable farming practices.
