Job Description of Senior DevOps Lead:

A Senior DevOps Lead is responsible for overseeing the software development lifecycle and ensuring a seamless flow between software development and IT operations. They lead the design, building, and optimization of automation systems that help execute business web and data infrastructure platforms. They play a crucial mentorship role, helping junior team members grow, building a collaborative DevOps culture, and ensuring best practices are shared and followed across the team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Contributing to and leading the architecture and infrastructure strategies, focusing on availability, scalability, security, and performance.
• Improving, implementing, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines to streamline deployments.
• Building and enforcing Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) best practices across development and operations.
• Troubleshooting and resolving issues impacting the SDLC, ensuring efficient workflows.
• Developing and maintaining infrastructure as code (IaC) practices.
• Building scripts and monitoring tools to optimize and reduce costs.
• Working closely with engineering teams to promote best practices and maximize the effective use of the tool portfolio.
• Fostering a DevOps culture by reducing the time to deliver code to production.
• Mentoring and guiding junior DevOps team members, sharing knowledge and best practices.
• Designing and executing DevOps setups for project/product development teams.
• Identifying and implementing data storage methods like clustering to improve team performance.
• Identifying issues in the production phase and system and implementing monitoring solutions to overcome those issues.

A Senior DevOps Lead is expected to have a combination of technical skills, extensive experience with software development methodologies, and the ability to lead and manage a team. They should stay abreast of industry trends and best practices and conduct research, tests, and execute new techniques which could be reused and applied to the software development project

Job Description of Lead DevOps Engineer:

A Lead DevOps Engineer plays a vital role in the software development lifecycle, bridging the gap between development and operations to enable faster and more reliable software releases. They are responsible for creating technology infrastructure and automation tools, as well as maintaining configuration management.

Responsibilities:

• Automating manual tasks for code deployment and implementing continuous integration and continuous deployment frameworks.
• Designing, building, and optimizing automation systems to support business web and data infrastructure platforms.
• Developing software deployment strategies.
• Identifying and implementing data storage methods.
• Identifying issues in the production phase and implementing monitoring solutions.
• Staying updated on industry trends and best practices, and testing new techniques.
• Managing and developing continuous integration and deployment solutions.
• Implementing lifecycle infrastructure solutions and documentation operations.
• Defining and maintaining system reliability standards using SLAs, SLIs, and SLOs.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• A masters degree in computer science or a related field.
• Extensive experience in DevOps engineering and exposure to cloud technologies.
• Strong technical background in version control, coding, and automation.
• Proficiency in Shell scripting and Linux OS, and database configuration skills.
• Knowledge of cloud infrastructure, especially AWS, GCP or Azure.
• Knowledge of fundamental Unix/Linux, monitoring, editing, and command-based tools.
• Ability to manage code deployment, configuration, and monitoring.
• Strong communication skills.
• Leadership skills in implementing and optimizing CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with Infrastructure as a Service (e.g., Terraform).
