Purchase Officer

Role & responsibilities

1. Identify and source quality raw materials like grains, fruits, vegetables, spices, or packaging materials required for food production.
2. Develop and maintain a reliable network of suppliers and vendors
3. Evaluate vendor performance based on quality, price, and delivery timelines.
4. Negotiate contracts, pricing, and payment terms with suppliers.
5. Monitor inventory levels to ensure timely replenishment and avoid shortages or overstocking.
6. Ensure all procured materials meet food safety standards (e.g., FSSAI, ISO, HACCP).
7. Conduct periodic supplier audits to ensure adherence to quality and compliance protocols.
8. Manage the procurement budget to achieve cost savings without compromising quality
9. Analyze market trends to identify cost-saving opportunities and plan purchases accordingly.
10. Prepare purchase orders and ensure timely delivery of materials to the production facility.
11. Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure preferential terms and priority service.
12. Develop contingency plans to address supply chain disruptions, price fluctuations, or quality issues.
13. Identify alternative suppliers to minimize dependency on a single vendor.

Preferred candidate profile

1. Bachelors or Masters degree in Supply Chain or Food Technology.
2. 4-6 years of procurement experience in the food processing or FMCG industry.
3. A proactive, detail-oriented professional who values quality, cost-efficiency, and sustainability.
4. Expertise in vendor management, compliance, and ERP systems, with strong negotiation and analytical abilities.
