Job Title: Safety Officer

Job Summary: The Safety Officer is responsible for monitoring, assessing, and enhancing workplace safety to reduce risk and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations. This includes identifying potential hazards, conducting regular safety inspections, and providing training and recommendations to ensure employee safety.

Key Responsibilities:

• Risk Assessment: Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards in the workplace.
• Safety Policies & Procedures: Develop and implement safety policies and procedures that comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Training & Awareness: Provide safety training to employees and management on best practices, proper use of equipment, emergency response procedures, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Incident Investigation: Investigate workplace accidents and near misses, prepare reports, and recommend corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
• Compliance: Ensure compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations and other relevant standards.
• Safety Audits: Perform audits of safety practices, equipment, and documentation to ensure adherence to safety protocols.
• Emergency Preparedness: Develop and oversee emergency response plans, including fire drills, evacuation procedures, and first aid.
• Reporting: Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, training sessions, and safety audits. Report findings to management regularly.
• Safety Equipment & PPE Management: Ensure the proper use and maintenance of safety equipment and personal protective gear.
• Continuous Improvement: Continuously evaluate and recommend improvements to safety programs, policies, and systems.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Safety certifications such as OSHA, First Aid, CPR, or NEBOSH are often preferred.
• Proven experience in safety management or a similar role.
• Strong knowledge of safety regulations and practices.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Ability to assess risks and recommend appropriate safety measures.
• Attention to detail and ability to handle emergency situations calmly and efficiently.
