Safety Officer - RMC Plant || Dolvi

Role & responsibilities

Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment:

• Conduct thorough site inspections to identify potential hazards related to machinery, working at heights, confined spaces, chemical exposure, material lifting, and electrical systems within the RMC plant. 
• Perform Job Safety Analysis (JSA)/ Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) for different tasks and operations. 
• Evaluate the severity and likelihood of identified hazards to prioritize risk mitigation strategies. 

Safety Policy Implementation:

• Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety policies and procedures specific to the RMC plant operations. 
• Ensure all employees are aware of and adhere to safety protocols. 
• Monitor compliance with safety regulations and standards. 

Training and Awareness:

• Deliver regular safety training sessions to all employees, including new hires, covering topics like proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), safe lifting techniques, hazard recognition, emergency response procedures, and specific safety concerns related to concrete mixing and delivery. 
• Conduct refresher training sessions as needed. 

Incident Investigation and Reporting:

• Thoroughly investigate all accidents, near misses, and safety incidents to determine root causes. 
• Implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence of similar incidents. 
• Maintain detailed records of incidents and investigations. 

Inspections and Audits:

• Conduct regular safety inspections of the plant, equipment, and work areas to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards. 
• Perform safety audits to assess the effectiveness of safety programs and identify areas for improvement. 

Emergency Preparedness:

• Develop and maintain emergency response plans, including procedures for fire, chemical spills, and medical emergencies. 
• Conduct regular emergency drills and ensure all employees are familiar with emergency response procedures. 

Communication and Collaboration:

• Work closely with plant management, supervisors, and employees to promote a strong safety culture. 
• Communicate safety concerns and recommendations effectively to relevant stakeholders. 
• Collaborate with other departments to identify and address safety issues. 

Compliance & Regulatory Adherence:

• Preparation of legal register. 
• Ensure compliance with local/ state and national safety regulations, guidelines and industry standards.
• Maintain /review /up-to-date knowledge of safety regulations and best practices, ensuring the workplace is compliant.

Preferred candidate profile

• Qualification - Diploma/ Degree in any branch of engineering or technology and completed ADIS/PDIS from any Central /State Govt approved institutions.
• Strong understanding of occupational health and safety regulations
• Experience in the construction industry, within an RMC plant will be preferred
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to conduct thorough risk assessments and investigations
• Proven ability to train and educate employees on safety procedures
• Attention to detail and strong analytical skills
• Certification/exposure in Dupont safety management system, standards or such field will be preferred 
• 5 years or more industrial experience as safety professionals.
