Lead - Transmission Line Design

Role & responsibilities

• Design transmission line structures (towers, poles, supports) for overhead power lines, ensuring they are structurally sound, cost-effective, and meet required specifications.
• Perform structural analysis of designs using software such as PLS-TOWER, STAAD, or similar.
• Conduct load, stress, and vibration analysis to ensure structures can withstand environmental factors such as wind, ice, and seismic activity.
• Ensure designs comply with national and international standards (IEC, ANSI, BS, etc.) and local regulatory requirements.
• Interpret and apply electrical and mechanical engineering codes to design transmission line components.
• Keep up-to-date with relevant technical standards, construction practices, and regulatory changes.
• Collaborate with project managers and construction teams to ensure that design specifications are followed throughout the project lifecycle.
• Work closely with other engineering disciplines (electrical, civil) to ensure the integration of structural components.
• Use design software like AutoCAD, PLS-CADD, and other relevant programs for drafting and modeling designs.
• Perform 3D modeling of transmission structures and perform virtual simulations to evaluate the behavior under different conditions.
• Research and propose innovative design solutions to improve the efficiency, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness of transmission line structures.

Preferred candidate profile

> Bachelors or Masters degree in Civil/Structural Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

> Certifications in structural design or transmission line engineering would be advantageous.
