The Engineer - EHS is responsible for assisting in the implementation, management, and continuous improvement of environmental, health, and safety (EHS) programs within the organization. This includes conducting safety audits, risk assessments, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, promoting safety culture, and supporting environmental sustainability efforts. The role requires collaboration with various departments to implement EHS practices, conduct training, and mitigate potential risks in the workplace.
The ideal candidate will have a background in environmental, health, and safety engineering, and be proactive in managing risks, ensuring regulatory compliance, and promoting a safe and sustainable work environment.
Key Responsibilities:EHS Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA, state-specific safety standards). Assist with the preparation of reports and documentation for regulatory compliance.
Risk Assessments & Safety Audits: Conduct safety audits, risk assessments, and safety inspections to identify potential hazards in the workplace. Recommend corrective actions to mitigate identified risks and ensure a safe working environment.
EHS Program Support: Support the implementation and maintenance of EHS management systems, including safety programs, policies, and procedures. Ensure that safety practices are consistently followed across all operations.
Training & Education: Assist in the development and delivery of safety training programs for employees. Topics may include hazard communication, emergency response procedures, proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and environmental compliance.
Incident Investigation & Reporting: Investigate workplace accidents, injuries, or near-miss incidents. Identify root causes, document findings, and recommend corrective actions. Ensure proper reporting of incidents in compliance with EHS regulations.
Environmental Management: Support environmental programs, including waste management, pollution prevention, recycling, and sustainability efforts. Ensure the proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials in compliance with environmental laws.
Emergency Preparedness: Contribute to the development and implementation of emergency response plans. This includes preparing for emergencies such as fires, chemical spills, and natural disasters. Assist in emergency drills and employee preparedness.
Documentation & Recordkeeping: Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, audits, risk assessments, training sessions, and incidents. Prepare reports on EHS performance and compliance for management review.
Continuous Improvement: Assist in the identification and implementation of continuous improvement opportunities in safety and environmental practices. Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging EHS regulations.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Work with various departments such as operations, HR, and facilities to ensure EHS practices are integrated into daily activities. Provide EHS guidance and support across the organization.
