Rosemallow Technologies - Senior Database Administrator - MongoDB (6-8 yrs)

Job Overview :

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced MongoDB DBA with 6+ years of hands-on experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in MongoDB administration, including setting up high availability clusters, replication, backups, restores, and security. Experience with AWS migrations is highly preferred, and familiarity with other database systems (SQL Server, MySQL) is a plus.

Responsibilities :

MongoDB Administration :

- Expert-level knowledge of MongoDB administration, including in-depth understanding of its architecture and internals.

- Design, implement, and manage highly available and scalable MongoDB clusters.

- Configure and manage replication, sharding, and other high availability features.

- Implement and manage backup and restore strategies in a Linux environment.

- Utilize MongoDB Ops Manager (or similar tools) for monitoring, managing, and optimizing database performance.

- Set up and manage listeners for database connections.

- Troubleshoot and resolve connectivity issues, including understanding firewall setup needs.

- Implement security measures, including encryption, certificate configuration, and AD-based authenticated access.

- Perform other routine DBA tasks, such as performance tuning, index management, and user management.

AWS Migration (Highly Preferred) :

- Experience migrating MongoDB databases to Amazon Web Services (AWS).

- Familiarity with AWS database services and tools relevant to MongoDB (e.g., DocumentDB, EC2).

Other Database Experience (Advantage) :

- Understanding of other database systems, such as SQL Server with AlwaysOn Availability Groups (AOAG) and MySQL.

- Ability to perform basic administrative tasks on these other database systems.

Required Skills :

- 6+ years of experience as a MongoDB DBA.

- Deep understanding of MongoDB architecture, replication, sharding, and high availability.

- Hands-on experience with MongoDB Ops Manager (or similar tools).

- Proficiency in backup and restore procedures in a Linux environment.

- Strong understanding of database security, including encryption, certificates, and authentication.

- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

- Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Skills :

- Experience migrating MongoDB databases to AWS.

- Familiarity with AWS database services and tools.

- Understanding of SQL Server with AOAG and/or MySQL administration.

- Experience with scripting languages (e.g., shell scripting, Python).

- MongoDB certifications.

Education : Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (preferred).
