Job Description

We are hiring for Area Sales Manager Construction Chemicals (Distributor Appointment & Retail Market) at COCHIN, HYDERABAD & PUNE locations.

Job Overview:


The Area Sales Manager will be responsible for overseeing the sales and distribution of construction chemicals & cleaners within the assigned territory. The role involves identifying and appointing new distributors, managing relationships with existing distributors, and expanding the retail market by implementing effective sales strategies. The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of the construction chemicals industry and experience in distributor management and sales development in the paint & hardware retail sector.


  1. Distributor Appointment & Management:

    • Identify and evaluate potential distributors in the assigned area.
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing and new distributors to enhance product distribution and sales.
    • Negotiate and finalize distribution agreements, ensuring compliance with company policies and market conditions.
    • Provide ongoing support and training to distributors on product knowledge, sales techniques, and marketing strategies.
    • Monitor distributor performance, ensuring targets are met and taking corrective actions when necessary.

2. Sales Strategy & Execution:


    • Develop and implement sales strategies to achieve sales targets for construction chemicals.
    • Work with distributors and retailers to drive the sales of products within the retail market.
    • Monitor and analyse sales performance and market trends, providing regular reports to senior management.
    • Organize product demonstrations, promotional events, and training sessions to increase product visibility and sales.
    • Collaborate with the marketing team to create effective promotional campaigns targeting both distributors and end customers.

3.Retail Market Development:


    • Identify and recruit new retail partners to expand the market reach for construction chemicals.
    • Establish and maintain relationships with retail channel partners, ensuring optimal product placement and visibility.
    • Monitor retail sales, providing feedback and support to improve sales performance.
    • Ensure the products are well stocked, and retail partners are trained on proper product usage and features.

4.Customer Relationship Management:


    • Build and maintain long-term relationships with key customers, including distributors, contractors, and retail partners.
    • Address customer complaints or issues in a timely and professional manner.
    • Regularly visit customers and distributors to understand their needs, gather feedback, and ensure satisfaction.

5.Market Intelligence:


    • Conduct regular competitor analysis and market research to identify trends, new opportunities, and potential threats.
    • Identify gaps in the market and develop strategies to target underserved areas or customer segments.

6.Reporting & Forecasting:


    • Prepare regular sales reports, including forecasts, pipeline status, and analysis of key performance indicators.
    • Provide insights to senior management on market dynamics, distributor performance, and sales trends.

Skills & Qualifications:


  • Education: Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Sales, Marketing, or a related field (MBA is a plus).

  • Experience:

    • Minimum 5 years of experience in sales or distribution management, with at least 2 years focused on construction chemicals or related industries.
    • Proven track record in managing distributors, driving sales, and expanding the retail market.
    • Strong knowledge of the construction chemicals market, product applications, and industry trends.

  • Skills:
    • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
    • Strong relationship-building abilities, with a customer-first approach.
    • Ability to analyse sales data and market trends to make informed decisions.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to take initiative.
    • Knowledge of CRM tools and MS Office Suite.
