PLC Engineer

About the role:

The PLC/DCS Engineer is responsible for designing, programming, maintaining, and troubleshooting PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) and DCS (Distributed Control System) systems to ensure the efficient operation of industrial automation processes. This role requires strong technical skills to integrate, modify, and optimize control systems and collaborate with cross-functional teams to support plant operations and improvements.

Responsibilities:

Design, program, and configure PLC and DCS systems to meet process requirements.

Develop and test control logic and HMI (Human-Machine Interface) systems for automated processes.

Troubleshoot and resolve issues in control systems to minimize downtime and maintain efficient operation.

Perform upgrades, modifications, and maintenance of control systems, ensuring they meet safety and industry standards.

Integrate PLC/DCS systems with other automation and industrial control systems, such as SCADA, HMIs, and IoT devices.

Develop detailed documentation, including control system architecture, logic diagrams, wiring diagrams, and maintenance manuals.

Collaborate with process engineers, operators, and maintenance teams to improve system performance.

Participate in commissioning, startup, and validation of new control systems.

Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements for automation systems.

Provide training to operators and technicians on control system operation and troubleshooting.

Experience with installation and commissioning of computer vision systems in industrial settings.

Design and implement IIoT architecture for industrial automation systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelors degree in electrical engineering, Industrial Automation, Instrumentation, or a related field.

Experience:

3+ years of experience in PLC/DCS programming, configuration, and troubleshooting.

Proficiency with PLC and DCS platforms such as Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Emerson DeltaV, ABB, Honeywell, etc.

Strong knowledge of control system programming languages (e.g., Ladder Logic, Function Block Diagram).

Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (e.g.,OPC-UA/DA, Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet/IP).

Understanding of safety and regulatory standards related to industrial automation (e.g., IEC 61508, OSHA standards).

Certification in IoT-related technologies, computer vision, or cybersecurity.

Familiarity with industrial safety standards IEC 61508, ISO 13849.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to travel to project sites as needed.

Ability to work in various industrial environments, which may include exposure to hazardous conditions, noise, and temperature extremes.
