Job Description
Position Overview
Under the direction of the Executive Director, Digital Underwriting Solutions, provides support to digital underwriting initiatives including:
- Identify internal and external clients business needs for systems development, performing requirement analysis, documentation of requirements and partners with developers to ensure appropriate solutions are designed
- Provide support in the design and development of automated underwriting rules in Aura Next
- Provide guidance to internal clients and colleagues on system functionality and rules development
Responsibilities
- Provide support to the underwriting team in Aura Next implementations
- Support the research and development of new digital underwriting capabilities
- Assist in designing, documenting and tracking multiple versions of automated underwriting rules
- Meet with internal and external clients to gain an understanding of their business needs. Perform gap analysis to identify possible enhancements to existing system functionalities
- Document business needs in the form of formal requirements and/or user stories and work with the technical teams to develop appropriate solutions
- Provide training and guidance to clients and colleagues on system functionality and the steps required for rules development.
- Work with the underwriting team to develop test scenarios and test cases
- Assist the underwriting team with the review of client data, which includes negotiating possible solutions to problems, offering suggestions to the client, and recommending needed changes to the system
- Develop and complete special projects as assigned
- Participate in multiple projects simultaneously, appropriately balancing priorities and deliverables.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Education and Experience
Required:
- Bachelor s degree or equivalent work experience
- 5-7 years IT-related experience, such as Business Analysis and/or Quality Assurance
- Experience developing and implementing rules for an underwriting engine, including straight through processing optimization
Preferred:
- LOMA Certification
- Insurance/Reinsurance industry experience
Skills and Abilities
- Advanced oral and written communication skills including presentation skills, demonstrating the ability to convey information in a way that is meaningful and we'll received by stakeholders and team members
- Advanced Word, intermediate Excel skills
- Proficiency in basic Microsoft Powerpoint use, creating and editing presentations
- Highly advanced ability to adapt new methods, work under tight deadlines and stressful conditions
- Expert skills in managing multiple projects simultaneously
- Advanced ability to liaise with individuals across a wide variety of operational, functional and technical disciplines
- Advanced level of investigative, analytical and problem solving skills
- Advanced data analysis skill
- Basic knowledge of insurance principles, underwriting policies and procedures and guidelines for dealing with risk analysis.
- Ability to read, review, and understand XML and json output
- Ability to train colleagues and clients on system capabilities and processes
- Ability to work online, either at home or remote
- Ability to work and provide support across different time zones
