Role Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounts Assistant Manager to manage the financial operations of our growing construction company. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and banking processes, ensuring seamless financial transactions, regulatory compliance, and support for large-scale construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Operations:

• Oversee day-to-day accounting functions, including invoicing, reconciliations, and expense tracking.
• Manage cash flow and project-based financial allocations.
• Process accounts payable/receivable and ensure accurate reporting of job costing for construction projects

Banking Activities:

• Handle bank reconciliations, fund transfers, and supplier payments.
• Liaise with banks for letters of credit, guarantees, and other construction-specific financial instruments.

Project Accounting:

• Track project expenses against budgets and provide regular cost analysis.
• Collaborate with project managers to ensure financial alignment with project timelines.
• Monitor subcontractor and vendor payments for accuracy and compliance.

Compliance & Auditing:

• Ensure compliance with local tax regulations, VAT filings, and other statutory requirements.
• Prepare and manage financial documentation for internal and external audits.
• Maintain compliance with Mauritian construction and financial regulations.

Reporting & Analysis:

• Prepare monthly financial statements, project profitability reports, and cash flow forecasts.
• Provide insights on cost control and budgeting for ongoing and upcoming projects.

Team Leadership:

• Supervise junior accountants and provide training on construction-specific accounting practices.
• Work closely with the procurement and operations teams to streamline financial processes.

Qualifications & Skills

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (ACCA/CPA or equivalent is preferred).

Experience:

• 10 years of accounting experience, with at least 5 years in the construction industry.
• Hands-on experience with banking and financial transactions specific to project-based industries.

Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, QuickBooks, or construction-specific tools) and MS Excel.
• Strong understanding of job costing, financial forecasting, and project-based accounting.
• Familiarity with Mauritian tax laws and construction industry compliance.

Soft Skills:

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent organizational abilities and attention to detail.
• Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
