Job Overview:The Manager - Business Intelligence (BI) is responsible for leading and overseeing the BI function within the organization. This role involves managing a team of BI analysts, developing strategies for data collection and analysis, and delivering insights that drive business decisions. The Manager - BI will collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into actionable data insights, ensuring that the organization utilizes data effectively for decision-making, strategic planning, and performance optimization.
Key Responsibilities:Leadership and Team Management:Lead, manage, and mentor a team of BI analysts and data professionals to ensure effective and timely delivery of BI projects.Provide guidance on best practices in data analysis, reporting, and visualization, ensuring high-quality outputs from the team.Set clear performance objectives, conduct regular performance reviews, and foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the team.Business Intelligence Strategy and Roadmap:Develop and execute the BI strategy and roadmap in alignment with organizational goals and objectives.Partner with senior leadership to understand business priorities and translate them into actionable BI initiatives.Identify opportunities for improving data quality, reporting processes, and BI tools to enhance business performance.Data Analytics and Reporting:Oversee the collection, analysis, and reporting of business data across various departments such as sales, finance, marketing, and operations.Develop and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) and dashboards to track and measure business performance.Lead efforts to design and implement custom reports and ad-hoc analysis to address specific business needs and strategic goals.Analyze large datasets to identify trends, correlations, and actionable insights that drive business strategies.Data Integration and Management:Oversee the integration of internal and external data sources into BI systems, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and accessibility of data.Collaborate with IT and data engineering teams to ensure data infrastructure is set up correctly and optimally supports BI needs.Develop and maintain data models, data pipelines, and other necessary infrastructure to ensure seamless data flow and integrity.Business Stakeholder Collaboration:Act as the key liaison between the BI team and other business units, including sales, marketing, finance, and operations, to ensure data-driven decision-making.Work closely with stakeholders to gather business requirements, understand challenges, and propose actionable data solutions.Translate business requirements into technical specifications and ensure effective communication of complex data findings to non-technical stakeholders.Tool Management and Technology:Evaluate, recommend, and implement new BI tools and technologies to enhance reporting, analytics, and visualization capabilities.Ensure the effective use of BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Qlik, etc.) and data platforms (e.g., SQL, Python, R) across the organization.Stay up to date with the latest trends and innovations in BI and data analytics and apply relevant technologies to improve BI processes.Data Governance and Quality:Ensure adherence to data governance standards, including data accuracy, consistency, and security.Implement and enforce best practices for data quality control and validation.Manage data privacy and compliance policies in accordance with applicable regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).Performance Monitoring and Continuous Improvement:Track and monitor the effectiveness of BI initiatives, ensuring that insights lead to improved business performance.Continuously evaluate BI processes, identify bottlenecks, and recommend process improvements to streamline workflows.Provide actionable insights and strategic recommendations to senior management to support decision-making and business growth.
Qualifications and Skills:Education:Bachelors degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.A Masters degree in Data Science, Analytics, or an MBA is a plus.
Experience:Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in business intelligence, data analytics, or a related field, with at least 2-3 years in a managerial or leadership role.Proven experience in managing BI teams and delivering complex data-driven insights and reports.Experience with BI tools and platforms (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Qlik, etc.) and proficiency in database management (e.g., SQL, NoSQL).Strong understanding of data visualization, reporting, and analytics best practices.Skills:Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to mentor and motivate a team of analysts.Advanced analytical skills and experience in interpreting complex datasets to drive business decisions.Proficient in data analysis tools and programming languages (e.g., Python, R, SQL).Deep knowledge of data management and integration practices.Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to present complex data insights to non-technical stakeholders.Personal Attributes:Highly detail-oriented and methodical, with a passion for data and analytics.Ability to think strategically and provide insights that drive business success.Proactive, with strong problem-solving abilities and a focus on continuous improvement.Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.Strong business acumen, with the ability to align BI initiatives with organizational goals.Working Conditions:Full-time position with standard office hours.Occasional overtime may be required depending on project deadlines or business needs.Hybrid or remote work arrangements may be available depending on company policies.
