Database (Postgres) Engineer

Purpose of the Role
Payments Database specialist works closely with the Solution Architect and Lead Engineer to create highly performant and resilient database design and subsequently works with senior application engineers to implement the designs
Essential Experience

Business

• Good exposure to payments order management, payment execution and clearing and settlement functions. Should have been involved in prior engineering of payment systems for large financial institutions.
• Should be conversant with ISO20022 standards
• Should be aware of different payment types and differences in processing of these payment types

Technical

• 8+ years of working experience for a professional consulting organization in the Database area with strong Database foundation skills.
• 5+ years of direct working experience on PostgreSQL
• Proficient with database tuning and use of PostgreSQL tools such as PgBadger, PEM, BARMAN
• Proficient with PostgreSQL architecture
• Proficient with PostgreSQL networking, HBA and connection pooling (PgBouncer, PgPool, pgCat)
• In-depth knowledge of C.
• In-depth understanding of databases and knowledge of SQL.
• Working knowledge of scripting languages, BASH, KSH, Python, Perl etc.
• Be familiar with database design and building applications for PostgreSQL
