Sr. Project Manager

Job Description:

We are seeking a Professional Services Senior Project Manager to lead, coordinate, and monitor professional services projects from initiation through delivery for complex client engagements. This role involves building strong relationships with customers to identify new opportunities and provide solutions to their business challenges. The Project Manager serves as a liaison between internal and external technical and non-technical departments, ensuring all targets and requirements are met. The role focuses on delivering results by ensuring technical projects are completed on schedule and within budget.

Key Accountabilities

General

• Work with Rackspace and client stakeholders to gather and document requirements that address customer pain points or objectives through project outcomes and benefits realization.
• Act as a liaison between clients and Rackspace's technical and non-technical teams to ensure all targets and requirements are met.
• Build and maintain a network of cross-functional technical resources within Rackspace and relevant partners to enhance productivity, increase business opportunities, and enable rapid resolution of problems and escalations.
• Contribute to the refinement of the Rackspace Professional Services methodology.
• Provide FANATICAL support by driving the value of Rackspace to both potential and existing customers as well as internal sales teams.
• Ability to travel as required.

Project Management

• Manage the scope, planning, monitoring, and execution of technical projects from initiation through delivery, ensuring projects remain on schedule and within budget, cost, and quality tolerances.
• Prepare key project documents (e.g., Project Initiation Document, plans, logs, reports) and other critical deliverables throughout the project lifecycle.
• Proactively identify and manage project risks and issues, ensuring appropriate response plans are developed and executed.
• Manage changes to the project baseline by assessing variances and evaluating impacts, supported by rigorous change control processes.
• Monitor the delivery of project outputs from internal and external third parties, maintaining progress through continuous communication with project stakeholders.
• Prepare and present project progress and issue reports to Rackspace and client stakeholders.

Pre-Sales Engagement

• Assist in the preparation of proposals, RFP/RFI responses, and Statements of Work (SoW), including analyzing and defining scope, duration, deliverables, resources, risks, assumptions, and dependencies.
• Collaborate with Sales pursuit teams, Programme & Project Managers, Technical Consultants, Solutions Architects, Partners, and cross-functional teams during pre-sales and project delivery to ensure timely execution and address potential risks or issues.

Person Specification:

Expertise/Qualifications

• PMP or PRINCE2 Practitioner certification.
• Proven ability to organize and execute projects in a consistent, repeatable, and reliable manner.
• Technical conversational knowledge in the following areas:
  • Data center strategy and operations
  • Capacity, utilization, and performance
  • Backup, storage, and disaster recovery
  • Migration and consolidation
  • IT Service Management and Service Delivery (ITIL certification preferred)
• Excellent time management, communication, decision-making, presentation, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Proven ability to resolve problems in a timely manner.
• Strong capability to communicate technical information and ideas clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
• General knowledge of cloud technologies, IT operations, and project management practices.
• Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment, handle shifting priorities, and manage ambiguity.
• Proficiency in enterprise-level use of Microsoft Office Suite, including MS Project and Visio, and familiarity with other project management tools.

Experience

• Essential: Proven project management experience in scoping, planning, leading, and monitoring technical projects from initiation through delivery, preferably in managed services or hosting.
• Essential: Experience in infrastructure technology projects, including:
  • Virtualization technologies
  • Application/platform migration
  • Data, storage, and network migration and/or management
