DBA - Maria DB

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Database Administrator with a strong background in managing and maintaining open-source databases such as MariaDB in production environments. The ideal candidate will demonstrate deep expertise in database performance tuning, query optimization, and backup and recovery strategies, while also being proficient in automation and cloud technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, create, and maintain databases for production and development environments.
• Perform installations, configurations, and upgrades for MariaDB 10.x/11.x and MySQL 8.x on Linux environments.
• Optimize database performance through tuning, query optimization, and storage management.
• Troubleshoot database performance issues and analyze tables to ensure optimal performance.
• Implement robust backup strategies including full, incremental, and binary log backups.
• Design and implement disaster recovery plans for business continuity.
• Set up and maintain master-slave or master-master replication configurations for MariaDB.
• Plan and execute maintenance activities (monthly, quarterly, half-yearly, and yearly).
• Use automation tools like Ansible, Puppet, or custom scripts in Python/Bash to streamline operations.
• Monitor database health and performance using industry-standard tools.
• Implement database security best practices, including encryption and user access control.
• Ensure compliance with relevant standards and protocols.
• Manage databases on cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Provide production deployment support during rollouts and ensure minimal downtime.
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to support database needs.
• Document processes, strategies, and configurations for future reference.

Required Experience:

• Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience managing Maria DB database and other open source DBs like (PostgreSQL, MySQL) in a production environment.
• Proficient in database performance tuning, query optimization, and storage management.
• Strong experience with full, incremental, and binary log backups, along with disaster recovery planning.
• Knowledge of master-slave and master-master setups in MariaDB.
• Proficiency with automation tools like Ansible, Puppet, or scripting in Python/Bash.
• Hands-on experience with database monitoring tools.
• Familiarity with encryption, user access control, and compliance standards.
• Experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure databases is a plus.
• Expertise in installing and managing MariaDB and MySQL on Linux.
• Soft Skills: Excellent communication and collaboration skills with a strong analytical and troubleshooting mindset.

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in high-pressure environments requiring swift troubleshooting and resolution.
• Ability to lead and plan database maintenance activities.
• Familiarity with emerging trends in database technologies and a continuous improvement mindset.
• Willingness to work on shifts/On-Call if needed
