Operations Analyst

Position Summary:

The Operations Analyst plays a pivotal role in the hedge funds operations team, overseeing the smooth execution of complex operational activities. This mid-level role focuses on managing and optimizing the entire trade lifecycle, including trade capture, confirmation, settlement, and reconciliation across global equities and derivatives. The analyst will collaborate with senior stakeholders, including internal teams such as Trading and Operations Support, as well as external parties including custodians, brokers, and counterparties, to resolve discrepancies and ensure accurate and efficient trade processing.

As a member of the operations team, this role requires a strong ability to handle trade settlement processes and ensure compliance with regulatory compliances. The Operations Analyst will also provide mentorship to junior team members and play an active role in improving operational workflows.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform daily position and cash reconciliations with custodians, administrators, and other external counterparties to ensure accuracy and consistency.
• Perform and validate trade bookings, ensuring trades are accurately captured in internal systems and with custodians/administrators.
• Resolve complex discrepancies related to trade settlements, including market fees, commissions, FX adjustments ensuring prompt and accurate resolutions.
• Booking & managing corporate actions (dividends, stock splits, mergers, etc.), ensuring the accurate reflection of these events in the funds P&L and operational processes.
• Supervise the monitoring and management of restricted trade securities, ensuring timely updates to databases and systems.
• Lead active communication with custodians, administrators, and counterparties to resolve operational discrepancies.
• Collaborate with internal teams to enhance operational processes, identify areas for improvement, and implement solutions that optimize efficiency.
• Ensure a deep understanding of time-zone differences, local market practices, and their impact on global equity markets.
• Provide training and mentorship to junior operations staff, helping to build a strong, knowledgeable team.

Required Skills & Qualifications and Experience:

• A Masters degree of an MBA in Finance/Economics or a Masters in Commerce (MCom) with undergraduate degree in Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) or Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) is a mandate.
• We would consider experienced candidates (1 to 3 years) for this role from BFSI Sector (Banking, Financial services & Insurance).
• Candidates from other professional fields may also be considered, provided they are willing to transition into the finance sector.
• Strong proficiency in Excel and related software tools, demonstrating efficiency in data analysis and problem-solving.
• A keen attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a dynamic environment.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders.

Location:

• The role is based in Indore, and candidates who are settled in Indore are preferred.

Work Timings:

• The position will require working around US equity market hours (evening or night shifts).
