Providence, Information Services organization is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to design and support an enterprise and Data Center Network Wide Area Network systems within a large health care environment. The candidate will be part of a team responsible for all WAN and Data Center design and standards implemented across the PSJH system. They will ensure the efficient and reliable operation of all Network infrastructure and services while providing technical support and guidance to caregivers and stakeholders. The position requires a strong technical background, including expertise in SD-WAN and Data Center based technologies in a large enterprise environment. Success in the role requires excellent customer service, interpersonal communication, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. It is also important the candidate possess the ability to work independently and as part of a team. The position requires the candidate performs all duties in a manner that promotes the Providence mission, values, and philosophy.
What will you be responsible for?
As a Network Operations Center Engineer, you will be:
The personnel who would be responding to network alerts and resolve hardware malfunctions promptly by utilizing troubleshooting mechanisms and escalation processes.
Diagnosing and troubleshooting basic network errors by interacting with customers
Tracking and documenting network issues for reporting and resolution.
Applies knowledge of network systems, applications, and network infrastructure to provide technical expertise for network infrastructure designs, expansions and configurations.
Maintains 24 x 7 coverage and support, including on-call support, to assist with restoring service and maintaining agreed upon service levels.
Supports the Installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting network services and devices.
Performs inspections and upgrades for network devices
Interacts with other infrastructure teams to identify and resolve issues within a timely manner.
Assists with systems, provides support without direction, and support modifications/changes to configuration.
Reports to the NOC Manager, or the Run or Build Manager of Network Services.
Performs other duties as required
What would your day look like?
Proactive Monitoring and Alerting:
Centralized Dashboard with backend monitoring through Solarwinds
Alert logs
Analyze alerts and take appropriate actions such as troubleshooting, escalation, or remediation.
Configure and maintain monitoring tools to identify potential problems before they impact users.
Incident Management:
Respond to network incidents efficiently, following established procedures for diagnosis, resolution, and documentation.
Work collaboratively with internal teams (Engineering, Security) to resolve incidents and restore service as quickly as possible.
Document incident details, root cause analysis, and resolution steps for future reference.
Analysis and Reporting:
Proactive Trend and Log Analysis
Root Cause Analysis by interacting with right teams involved in resolving the issue
ITIL Service Operations:
Change/Event/Incident/Problem Management

Who are we looking for?
B.Tech / B.E with 3-5 years of related experience.
Minimum of 3-5 years in the support of an enterprise Network environment.
Previous experience in NOC with handling international clients.
Analyze and resolves network connectivity problems in timely and accurate fashion. And, Analyzing, troubleshooting and correcting network problems remotely.
Understanding of the TCP/IP, OSI network model and the mechanics of the IP Protocol and Ethernet and transmission media at layer 1
Experience or exposure to Ethernet & IP protocol analyzers like Wireshark, tcpdump, etc.
Hands-on experience and knowledge of foundational data networking and IP technologies including (ARP, TCP/IP, UDP, DHCP, DNS, NAT and others)
Experience with common routing and switching platforms (Cisco, PaloAlto, HP/Aruba, Juniper Mist, Avaya, SDWAN etc.)
Basic Technical knowledge of common routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP) and Switching Protocols [STP, RSTP, MST,..]
Practical knowledge of DHCP in operational environments
Understanding of DNS requests and the types of available records needed to meet user needs
Awareness of network monitoring protocols and their use
Experience with incident management systems to track and manage workflow
Strong influencing skills and an ability to overcome barriers while driving change
Excellent verbal and written communication skills for a wide range of audiences including executives, business stakeholders, and IT teams
Demonstrated experience in improving reliability, performance, and agility of complex enterprise networks
Willingness to learn new technologies and maintain industry knowledge
Basic Linux/Unix shell/cli orientation or experience
Proven skills in the developing and maintaining successful relationships with third-party service providers and hardware vendors.
Proven skills with the compliance of ITIL and ITSM standards.
Proven skills to provide technical, project and professional leadership of a technical team of Network Engineering.
